Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Young entrepreneur - How do I find 2-3 marketers to make a team?

I thought this might be the right place to ask.

I have reached the point where I can see a lot of potential growth in my business, but the workload amounts to more than I can handle myself within the objective's time frame. I'm now somewhat dependent on making a team of 1-3 others to share the workload of getting there so I need to bring some people on board.

I was thinking of either going to seminars/meetings and socialising more to hopefully find the type of people I am looking for or else advertising online to "meet and interview" potential partners, although that might be a bit brazen considering I am a sole trader and not a company who's employing yet.

Can anyone make any suggestions on how I could dive aggressively into doing this, the quickest way to find the right people to come on board to turn this into a profit yielding company.

    Regards.

How to you propose paying these people? Do you have employer's liability insurance?

What kind of business is it?

My business is an online fitness network and product. I have not yet sought an investment which of course could be used to employ 1-2 others.

The work that has to be carried out is intense marketing: Social media, SEO, SEM, Youtube (all of which I have done myself in the past but now need to focus more on my product - finish my content videos, written elements etc.)

I'm not really looking for someone to work "for" me just yet anyway, but rather 1-2 people to work "with" me and have a bit of fun in it at this stage because the dirty work has mostly been done.

I don't think where I currently am qualifies for being able to run an internship, it would be ideal though!

If you want staff you need to be able to pay them..

Seems like you are looking for people to work for you for free or is there more to it?

    How did you miss this:

"I'm not really looking for someone to work "for" me just yet anyway, but rather 1-2 people to work "with" me and have a bit of fun in it at this stage because the dirty work has mostly been done."

I'm mostly looking for people (1 or 2) who want to get involved, possibly form a strategic alliance or even become close connections, at this time anyway.

Which is unpaid ie. free staff

"a bit of fun" doesn't pay the rent or put food on the table ..

I didn't miss that, that is what I am referring to - why would someone work with you when you haven't mentioned what they could expect to receive in return? That could be cold hard cash, equity in exchange for a reduced fee, or something else.

Why would they work with you on your project instead of on their own project, for example?

    Okay my apologies.

My understanding is that if you are developing a business on your own and you are in the very, very early stages that it's unfeasible to expect others to come in and "help you" make it work as they have their own lives and it would be a big risk for something that may not work.

In my case I have experience in the area; I've sold products online before and I noticed a gap in the market (in the online fitness industry) right where I had the expertise from being a personal trainer who specialised in the area. After doing months and months of research, market testing etc. I verified the only approach was to pursue it aggressively, however, doing so as a one man show is proving to take a lot longer than anticipated and with 1-2 others the workload would not only be divided but idea/opinion exchange would help ensure a common sense approach prevails and mistakes avoided.

Anyhow, I have managed to get in touch with some excellent advisors on the matter, but on here I just thought some people might share tips from experience or what their opinion was of the next steps etc.

    Your next steps are...

    1. Seek investment from whoever and hire staff..
    2. Do it yourself at a much slower growth rate.
    3. Give equity to partners... Faster growth rate

Very concise, thanks, I am working this out at the moment.
