Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The league champions that bow out are this round don't have any Europa safety net. They should at least go into Europa Q3.

As much as I would love Pats to do it tonight, I fancy Legia.

    Hope I'm wrong.

Can Pats really do it tomorrow?? I have serious doubts, think the thoughts of Celtic in the next round might have a negative effect on the game.
Pats home Euro record away from Richmond has been poor (drew with Hertha, lost to Steaua, Lviv and Hannover) and can't see that changing this evening. I'd be much more confident if that injury-time goal hadn't been conceded last week and tonight's match was at Richmond.

That said, I didn't expect five ****ing nil.

    Christ, that was depressing.

tough break to lose the centre half in the warm up - wtf were they doing in the warm up?

Have discovered an even bigger reason for a Derry win tomorrow night. Have learnt today that if Derry win they will play their 3rd rd qualifier at the Sligo Showgrounds, if Sligo also win tomorrow night, their 3rd Rd 1st Leg match will be played a week tomorrow at home, which suits me perfectly, if Derry dont win, Sligos 2nd Leg will be at home.

Hope that makes sense to ya all.

    Working on not losing 5-0?

Can't see us needing the use of the Sligo showgrounds to be honest.

Can see us losing by 2 or 3 clear goals.

    Hope I'm wrong.

They showed up last night and we got spanked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭legendary.xix

Be great to see Derry turn the tie around. Dundalk look as good as out. Sligo are going to be in for a tough night despite taking a lead into the game.

Losing a centre-half in the warm-up is a big blow.

Losing another centre-half and a full-back mid-way through the second half when you're chasing the game is always going to result in a hiding.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭AgileMyth

If we get through I'll only make it if the home leg is second. For that reason I have to hope Derry don't progress! Obviously if we went out I'd love to see Derry go through.

I'm clutching at straws in the hope of seeing some European football this season, could be a while before we're in it again.

They figured us out and denied the middle any time and space, after that it was only a matter of time before the defence was exposed.

Oh I think Legia still would have won without the injuries, but it would have been more respectable. Fahey was the only Pats player who showed any kind of composure - the rest of them were over-awed by the occasion. I think the Celtic thing was a major distraction.

I think so... should Sligo win, their next home European match will be next week, should Derry win, or in two weeks time should Derry lose? Should Derry play in the showgrounds, when would that be - two weeks time?

If Sligos 1st leg is at home, I can make it. Its the 2nd leg is at home, I dont know yet, and wont know until around the first leg.

If they both win, Sligos 1st leg is at home in the Showgrounds, with Derrys 2nd Leg at home in the Showgrounds due to the unsuitably of The Brandywell.

If Sligo Win, and Derry lose, Sligos 2nd leg is at home.

Not sure if Derry is home or away first should only they win.

This is my understanding of the various sinarios.

We were just outclassed last night. The injuries in defence really didnt help.

Good luck to Sligo, Dundalk and Derry tonight.

Anyone know who the UEFA fella with the big black curly head of hair is at the Showgrounds (asumming you are there)? I'm sure I seen him at the FK Banga game as well.

Place already filling over an hour before kickoff, with only 100 tickets left this morning.

I know what you are saying but all stadiums have their attractions. Even ones that haven't been renovated since say the 1930s. They somehow feel very historic.

Sava, McMillan, Higgins and McDermott start for Dundalk. All fringe players (although in fairness to McDermott he's only just joined the club). Telling that Kenny played his first choice team against Athlone on Sunday and not tonight.
