How do I get access to the Ranting & Raving Forum? Is there not like a central point where the request goes to rather than pming someone to request access that mightn't be online.

No. You have to pm one of the mods. The mods are Fluorescence, Grand_Rajnah, Overheal. Pm one of them and they'll confirm or deny fairly quickly.
