Possible problem with Huawei E5220 Wi-Fi modem

Recently upgraded from a E122 USB modem to E5220 modem and have found that it takes considerably longer to download email with new Wi-Fi modem. Obviously, due to the nature of email, it is impossible to be absolutely specific etc. regarding time frame, but approximately 7 or 8 times longer, would be a good estimate. This issue does not arise when accessing a public Wi-Fi or when downloading from an Eircom network. Therefore, it would not appear to be a computer or system issue? I have been advised by service provider that there are no setting adjustments etc. etc. Normal internet browsing is not affected. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

It could just be the type of internet you're using. My experience with using usb routers (dongles) as been far from good compared to a fixed line service.
