    Hi all,
I am interested in becoming an acupuncturist and would love to start training part-time in the autumn. There are quite a few courses available (I live in Dublin) however I am at a loss as to which would be the best one to proceed with. They are all pretty similar in length (3 years approx) and although I've had difficulty getting a clear cost from some of them, I reckon there's not much difference in price too. Ideally I would love to specialise in fertility acupuncture and set up my own practice. I've been through all of this myself and really feel I could excel in this area, but I really can't seem to decide which college is for me or would suit my particular approach. Any thoughts you have on the subject or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. I want everything to be above board and recognised by the health insurance companies. Thanks in advance.

I was in the same position as you five years ago. I wanted to move back from Cambridge to study here and couldn't decide on good criteria to differentiate which course.

I went to open days in different colleges and, in one, I saw that the second year lectrurer was a Cambridge-based Chinese doctor whose reputation was very high (in Cambridge). That was what helped me decide - knowing that the calibre of teaching was bound to be good.

Only after returning to Ireland and starting the course did I get reassurance (lots) from local acupuncturists that this was indeed the best course in Dublin. And, now I can say that my personal experience backs that up. I am about 16 months practicing now and business established very quickly for me.

The course I did was with the Acupuncture Foundation.

By the way, I'd like to encourage you to follow your interest in acupuncture. My enthusiasm and assurance that I chose the right path has increased every month since since starting first year acu. And, in practice, it is continuing. It's a rewarding career

    Hi niallol,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. It really helps a lot. I'll certainly take a closer look at that one. I'm really looking forward to embarking on this change in career so I want to make sure I do it right. Much appreciated.

Hello, for those who have already started the acupuncture course, do you think its worthwhile, and how are you managing the study?
