Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have my medical next Tuesday morning and then physical sometime in the following week. I am doing them press ups like you, slightly wider then the shoulders and doing them fine. Just hoping that will suffice on the day.

Did you get an email confirming your medical for tuesday?

I did. Got it there about 2 hours ago. I presume a pair of jeans and a polo shirt or the likes will do to wear going in there?

Hi guys, I'm in band 1 group 2 so have only done stage 3 this week. Just wondering are the medical and pct done on a order if merit like the other stages? I.e the quicker you finish the pct the higher in the ranking you are. Or are they just to verify you are fit enough and you just need to pass? Cheers

The order of merit after the interview is your final ranking. PCT and medical are just straight pass/fail.

Do u reckon that offers will be given to those for the second intake at the same time as those for the first intake? I know the intakes will be several months apart if they go ahead but it would be nice for those in the second intake to know in advance. That's presuming there will be another intake of course.

I honestly was expecting some sort of correspondance today but hopefully Monday will have something for us. Unless of course HRM wanted to pay overtime to its workers and they could let us know tomorrow. Especially seeing that there is so much money within AGS these days.

I spoke with HRM today. Basically, I was told to keep an eye on my email over the next few weeks and to ignore all hearsay.

    Easier said!

    Zero patience left :-/

Next few weeks??? An email is well overdue already as it is never mind 3 weeks away!

Next few weeks?! Unbelievable. What a disappointment.

It's not exactly news. There's two weeks left in July and we're due to start 'early september'. A months notice would make 'early August' which is 2/3 weeks away.

Hmmm perhaps they are waiting for more to come through medicals and physicals, which would mean that we won't likely hear until about two weeks today (given that medicals appear to be happening this coming week, and physicals the week after). I'd be surprised if it was any later than that!

I wouldnt read too much into it. They probably genuinely dont know. They are civil servants aswell we do forget. They are probably sitting at their computer, just like us, waiting for their email to say they can email us!!

Has HRM been giving out any info regarding background checks if they are back and if you have passed or failed etc? I'm wondering should I ring to see if they are but don't want to be annoying them again :-/

I wonder have they the 100 spots filled for september or are they still short numbers. Hence the medicals and physicals in the next two weeks.

They'll only tell you if they've got your vetting back. They won't tell you anything re how they are progressing through it themselves.

Will tomorrow be the day? If they had initially planned that July was going to be first intake then surely they should know who is going through by now.

So please let us find out soon. I have been checking my emails every second of every minute. Even searching through my junk inbox just in case it would be accidentally filtered. Maybe I just need to sit back and relax ......... but I cant!! I want to know now.

I say this without knowing anything but I would relax if I was you, I'd say it will be weeks before anyone hears anything.

You could be correct. Lets hope not though. We will soon find out. I use the word 'soon' loosely.

Any one watch the programme on the royal marines in the uk ? The new recruits in training ?
It's pretty good. On at 9 on mondays. Part 2 is tonight.

The inspections are crazy. Your wardrobe has to be a certain way and they even show you how to wash yourself. Its nuts. Imagine Templemore being that strict !!

They do push ups and sit ups to bleeps.. they are fit defo but they get huge fry ups in the morning.
Least in Templemore you get some porridge :)

    Good show I think.

I know someone doing medical this weds anyway. PCT dates are given once you pass the medical but they said definitely next week.

Afaik, medicals are going on this week, and physicals the next. I was talking to two fellas who were given medical dates this week and (presumably provisional) physical dates next week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 240 ✭✭mickaleen

I've my medical tomorrow and was told on the phone at the time that I could only accept the medical date if I was def available for physical the following week.

Still background checks from first batch not cleared I reckon. Friday week is 1st of August they might just aim for that to notify first class - give everyone a fair chance.

    I think so too.
We could be wrong but seems a bit rushed now. Only accept the medical date if you can do a fitness the following week. Sounds rushed to me. Then everyone will be notified when they have numbers from this lot.

Could be a long shot and we are guessing !!

I was thinkin perhaps it was the vetting slowing things down too. However, I'd have thought that they would have prioritised the vetting on the first bunch that were expected to enter Templemore, therefore making it unlikely that the vetting of the folks currently doing stage 5 to be any quicker than ours. I've mentioned it before, but the impression that I got from hr was that most people's vetting had come back. It was just a matter of garda hrm clearing it themselves.
