Rented house, broken bath repair advise

The rented house we are moving into has a bath. The handles that you use to hoist yourself up are broken off with 2 pieces of rusty metal sticking out about an inch. The agent said nothing can be done to fix it. I have 2 small children who would need to use the bath & there is only a shower in the bath (non separate) so I really need to fix it as its quite dangerous. Would anyone know where I could source replacement handles without having to buy a bath? Hoping someone else has experience replacing these :)

So he has to replace it then. The landlord has a legal obligation to carry out repairs like this

They're not replacing the bath though as the bath itself is fine its just the handles broke off & are quite dangerous.

Yes, and the point is the landlord is obliged to repair it. If he can't repair the handles then he has to replace the bath

and in the meantime the child slips and impales themselves on the broken handle. The LL should indeed fix these sorts of defects but the OP is presumably more worried about the immediate safety of their children.

OP: Can you at least file the pointy stubs down so they aren't a danger to a falling person and then argue the toss with the LL about fixing them?

Don't move into the house before this issue is fixed. A bit of a no-brainer reallly. We are not talking about a splash of paint somewhere or a handle on a bedside dresser. A bath shouldn't have sharp pointy things.

Agreed. The moment you move in, these issues will tend to be put on the long finger.
