Tesco Salads - Made in Drogheda - Nationwide?

    Hi folks,

This isn't an issue at all, but it's the only place I can think to ask this fairly mundane question (that I'm asking just to satisfy my own curiousity).

I live in Drogheda, and I was in Tesco (Extra) picking up some bits. I picked up one of those Salad Bowl things they have, and was surprised to see, on the packaging, a 'Prepared in Drogheda' stamp.

(note, it's worked into the packaging, not just a sticker someone put on in the store, so would be part of the production process).

What I'm curious of, is, does this appear on all stores nationwide (I'm lead to believe the same place in Drogheda supply them all, but I wonder does the Drogheda stamp get removed for salads that are sold in Dublin, Waterford, Clare, etc.).

If it matters, the product pictured above is a "Complete Chicken Caesar Salad" bowl.

Anyone know? Like I say, not a consumer issue at all, but just sheer curiousity.

    Cheers :)

Prepared in Drogheda, shipped to Tesco's massive distribution centre in Balbriggan and then shipped put to all stores.

If you supply to all the major retailers, why can’t I see your product anywhere? Nature’s Best specialises in Private Label which means we make it for the Supermarkets so the product will have their logo on it; not ours. Just make sure you’re buying products with the “Produced in Ireland” symbol.

There's just one distribution centre now and it's in Donabate - so do all the salads get sent there first or are they supplied directly to stores from local suppliers ?

It was prepared in Drogheda, even if stocked on shelf in their Dublin stores. Why would they remove / cover those labels, then?

I thought they might switch it to a more generic 'Prepared in Ireland' one, for places that aren't so geographically close to Drogheda.

Pity it doesn't say grown & prepared in Ireland/Drogheda.

Perhaps because the parmesan, olive oil and lemons aren't grown in Ireland. :)

As a Caesar salad is a product and not a vegetable, it is produced and not grown. You do not grow a Caesar salad, you make one. You might as well say there should be a "grown in" label on a loaf of bread.

Sorry, my reply was not directed at you at all, but to the poster who said it could list the ingredients grown in Ireland.
