Arya has been stoic for long enough. Her laughter was simply a release of how many times she has come close to some sort of fortune only for it to blow up in her face.

Should definitely post the Royce pic^ over on the non reader thread to show them how connected it all is.

Ended up fast forwarding the Grey Worm romantic bit, it's so boring. I loved the ending, even the beetle story which was probably wrote in to give Tyrion something to do before his fate was decided.

I don't mind the Greyworm stuff, at least you can call it a love story that's authentic for once (no dick, cmon).

Done. Hopefully I don't end up like the original High Septon for being a book reader :p

Well, eating dinner through that fight scene was tough. I knew exactly what was coming but my hand just kept shovelling food into my mouth. I'm not half way through dinner yet but that's it for me.

I thought Daeny was refusing to look at Jorah. She literally couldn't bear to lay eyes on him. Least that's the way I read the scene.

Arya laughing had me laughing along. Nicely showing the progressive hopelessness of her situation.

Mountain/Viper was animal, though could have done with another minute or two. In the book didn't Oberyn break a spear off in Cleganes chest though, and Clegane impales him on it? I have a whole thing in my head where Oberyn dies laying his head on Cleganes chest.

I thought it well placed, that it showed how broken she's become. After all that travelling and misery and getting so close to her aunt, that yet again another family member has died just before she got there.

She was laughing at The Hound and the fact he doesn't get the bounty for her.

I really think the Grey Worm/Missandei storyline was simply an excuse to get Missandei's t*ts out. There's nothing of significance that storyline could possibly amount to. At least the pre-pubescent males were kept happy I suppose, but I'd rather those five minutes were added to the final scene.

Same goes for that pointless story about the beetles. I think Jamie was speaking for every viewer when he said "who gives a dusty f*ck about a bunch of beetles".

    Pretty much nothing.

    Pretty much nothing.

Bit of a significant deviation though as gone is the Alayne crap. A Stark officially lives and in a decent position. I'm sure that will lead to some interesting developments next season.

Is it possible Littlefinger will rise the Vale in opposition to Rickon when he reappears in the books? Even though Sansa has gone pretty far down the Littlefinger school of ethics I can't see her going against her brother. Would be an interesting dynamic however, Myrcella v Tommen in the south and Sansa and Rickon battle it out for the north...

Only the two Lords & LF know she's a Stark. I'm pretty sure her hair was dyed in the last scene on their instruction, so when they took her with Robyn to see the other Lords it wouldn't arouse suspicion. Shouldn't make much of a difference to the overall plot - she's still Alayne as far as nearly everyone is concerned.

Possibly or would Sansa not become Rickon's advisor? Angry Northern Lord with angry Direwolf with warrior woman nurse and Sansa?

Ah, fair point. Forgot that it's still a secret technically.

As for Rickon, I can't see how Littlefinger would go against him. He'd probably be thinking "happy days, another young Stark that I can manipulate and use to my advantage."

Big plot hole on the Arya scene, do the guards know Alayne is really Sansa now that that has been disclosed, wouldn't Sansa/littlefinger pay a ransom for Arya.

Seeing as the show/hbo don't give a **** about the book.

No there's been nothing to suggest anyone other than the two lords have been told the truth about Sansa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Exactly, Littlefinger also made it clear that it was to stay a secret.

The ending was fantastic, exactly as I pictured it in the book (a little bit more rage by Oberyn would have been nice).

    And Ramsay, evil c*nt :D

What was with Tyrions story about the simple cousin and the beatles? Is it some metaphor for mankind in westoros and the world, they just keep killing each other and nobody understands why?

Loving the haven't read the books thread. The amount of disbelief is brilliant. The "surely they can't kill Tyrion as well" comments!

The missus sat open mouthed at the TV for around 2 minutes after the episode ended. She has been asking me what happens to Tyrion in the next episodes and then saying no don't tell me. I haven't seen her this shook up since the Red Wedding.

I watched it again there on Sky and I think I was overly critical of Dany. Looking back she actually did play the scene well. So credit where it's due.

Poor Jorah, but Barristan was such a good guy in the way he handled it. Hopefully as he becomes more prominent next season he won't suffer from the very ham-fisted acting of Emilia Clarke. Maybe that's harsh but dafuq was she looking at?

Also thinking about Littlefinger and his apparent lack of a plan. Maybe his plan was to test Sansa as he expected her to do what she did. Yeah I know it's not the firmest idea in the world but I refuse to believe that even the TV version of Petyr Baelish could be anything less than totally calculating even with his apparent lust for Sansa.

Also I hope they didn't imply that the pair got jiggy.

As for Arya and the Hound I'm really intrigued as to what happens. There's no way that the Sisters are reunited but there's no way that they're allowed to just leave either. People professing to be 2 of the most wanted people in the land won't be set free surely?

    Damn, Oberyn again :(

I'm under the impression he would dare to take her maidenhead, as she is still wed to Tyrion and if there's ever a hope of that marriage being annulled she will have to prove her virginity (I think.). Also if she gets pregnant the Lannisters can swear it's Tyrions...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭joe123

Ah that was hard watch. Oberyn was a really cool character and possibly even cooler in the tv show.

It reminded me of what I started thinking in the books. Theyre arent many likeable characters left to root for.

Tyrion the obvious one. After that you have Arya with her wierd faceless men storyline and possibly Jamie and Jorah.

Outside of that you have Brienne is possibly a zombie woman now. The hound is most likely dead. Jon Snow also dead but might be alive.

Everyone else is either a boring character or a villain.

    Victarian - boring
Dany - possibly the most unlikeable good guy character in the book.
Youve got the sandsnakes who imo are all pretty boring.

    Jon Connington might be decent....

Ca anyone cheer me up and tell me the books will improve again?

I thought it was trying to link the evil that many Targarians are known for to mental illness..

I actually kind of like Victarion, I don't really care for the Ironborn and their ways but he really seems to have a code of some sort.

Even when he kills the Serry lad and gets wounded by him he still hopes the lad finds peace in death and that he is feasting in the Drowned God's halls. He also doesn't agree with Euron's carry on when he takes the Shield Islands. He just is as he appears, there's no cruelty just for the sake of it etc.

He's a bit like a less complex Hound; great fighter, doesn't indulge in cruelty, hates his brother.

I don't think there is much to Jon Connington, Randyll Tarly had it right when he said he was a failure and lost the only battle he ever commanded. He's letting a child call the shots at the moment, he should have told him..'You'll be king one day but until then I'm running the show..I'll decide who commands the battles etc.'

Once Tywin gets it, I really think the show (like the books to an extent) will annoy a lot of people with the new storylines. The Ironborn stuff won't go across well, although I can't wait to see how they handle the Arya stuff, plus as said earlier, the Sansa storyline is going in a different direction to the books.

Really gonna miss Charles Dance, for me he's been the most consistently scene stealing character in it since he first arrived. Fantastic actor.

I watched, well that scene again and the scream that Oberyn lets out is still blood curdling, and his frantic movement trying to stop The Mountain gouging his eyes out, what a moment, shocking but will be what everyone remembers this season for. Its the Ned beheading, Blackwater Bay exploding, Red Wedding moment for this series.

Just after the first viewing here, going to watch it again before bed. I loved the beetle scene! It made me laugh and get giddy just before some profuse sweating and shrieking on par with Ellaria.

I'm really gonna miss Mediterranean Liam Neeson/ Inigo Montoya. He was amazing. Also Charles Dance will be sorely missed! I really hate this whole Lady Stoneheart arc, any chance of them leaving that out of the show? :P

Yup, imagine if a known book reader went in and posted spoilers in tags, they'd be straight up banned, yet these 'theories' are fine. Putting the tags on them just makes it blatantly obvious they are correct, posts like that should be removed.
