Are there features of Pro that you need, that Home Premium does not have?

In most cases an OEM license will do nicely.

Unless you need to add your laptop to your employers corporate network domain, you do not need Win 7 Pro,
Home edition will do fine and save yourself unnecessary expenditure.

Some perfectly good free OS's to try out, easy to install Ubuntu or Linux Mint worth trying out
