Anyone with a 2012 version N7 got the OTA update yet?

If so, any improvements? I find mine had become very buggy and unresponsive with the 4.4.2, so I'm hoping that'll be sorted!

Yes mine has received it. No noticeable improvement. If yours is slow then a factory reset will help more than any OS update.

Got mine this evening. You'll need to do a factory reset to get your speed back

The OTA came yesterday evening with no marked improvement, so I'll do a factory reset now!

Got it on my Nexus 7 (2012) last night. I've noticed an immediate improvement in performance. My Nexus 7 has been borderline unusable recently there's so much lag. Since the update though, it's almost as slick & smooth as it was when I first bought it. Anyone else experiencing the same? I'm hoping it's not a fluke.

Gonna update my N7 2012 tomorrow night and see if you runs better.
Similarly, my N7 almost came to a halt recently it got so laggy.
I've factory reset it and keep a handfull of apps installed to stop it from dying on me.
    Can a 68mb file really be it's saviour? :)

Nice to get it fixed just in time for google to announce a new version of Android at I/O next week :D

I did some reading in to it a few weeks ago (quick google for "Nexus 7 laggy"). I saw some people mention something about file system that was used. See http://pocketnow.com/2014/03/18/speed-up-the-nexus-7

Maybe Google fixed it. Or maybe the TRIM support was enabled in 4.3.3?

It's an interesting article, but I'm not sure I'm willing to change out the file system to halt the lag.

I remember when TRIM was activated in 4.3 and thought that would be the end of it. It was for a while, but then it came back even worse than ever.

Imagine this, the ssd would nearly always think it was full until TRIM was activated. Specifically pointing out sectors that were OK to overwrite. Not individual files mind you, sectors. And if one wasn't completey empty it wasn't given the flag to allow an overwrite. Couple that with TRIM only being activated under specific circumstances, made things worse. Had to be idle for about 2 hours and had to be charging from the mains.

I have a feeling if an N7 2014 model is announced, I'll end up buying it just to stop the lag :)

Fingers crossed this latest update will keep the N7 2012 snappy. Running as it did yesterday after the update is just fine with me. I only use it for a bit of web browsing, G+, FB, Netflix, Google Music. If not, I'll probably fork out for the 2014 model like yourself.

Hopefully, you've given me renewed hope anyway :pac:

Android 4.4.4 OTA about to start rolling out for Nexus Devices.

It's just a security bug fix.

I wonder should that be in a new thread?

    Factory Images already available.

With the intend use of ART in android 5.0, will KitKat be the last android version for the Nexus 7 (2012) as it currently can not be turned on in that device?

It better fcuking not be the last version of android for the 2012 N7 :pac:

I'd assume that it'd be dual runtime just like KK, but with ART the default, rather than Dalvik!

If it is I'm sure CM will continue to support the '12 for a few more years. That's more or less stock Android with a few nice features thrown in to boot. My N4 is CM because of the profile switching according to WI-FI but never saw any need to have anything but stock on my N7. If Google cuts the support then obviously I'd move to CM on the N7 as well.

Absolutely, I used to really like CM, had it on all my androids until I got the N7 2012, then saw no need to move from stock. Then I got the N4 before moving onto the N5, so it's around 2 years since I've used it now

I've no problem moving the N7 over to CM and it's been 2 full years of support for that tablet from google, so I guess I can't really complain :D

Found a handy guide to using the Nexus Root Toolkit to flash the factory images. with out wiping.

Handy for anyone who doesn't want to work with command lines.

This is the way to update if the normal OTA method fails for some reason. (usually because of been rooted with stickmount installed)
