Tuilagi is having a great game, especially in the 2nd quarter.

Those performances are few and far between and, despite the scoreline, our mental fragility cost us the game again.

Generally they beat us handily and the result is a foregone conclusion.

Ha for all of Sky's fancy gadgets you can't beat a good whiteboard and coloured pens!

I've said it before but Parling is incredible, he looks no more intimidating than a club second row, but his technique and intelligence push him onto a different level.

He's a very underrated player. He was the best lock in Australia last summer. Extremely athletic, great jumper and works his arse off.

It's an interesting experience being on an Irish forum rooting for England...

An absorbing first half and as expected a very good English performance. Burns has been just fine. Brown pretty immaculate at the back.

From a NZ point of view I am not happy with Cruden. He is no Carter...and he is no Barrett. Beauden on please. Kaino is also really a specialist 6, so I would bring Vito on at 8, and toss a coin for which of Messam and Kaino goes off. Vito is also excellent in the line out.

Bit more aggression from the NZ forwards, better control from 1st five, and play a bit faster & wider.

Nige is missing a lot off the ball...from both sides.

That we did, but there was no fear of a black jersey.

He's a lot looser than Cruden from what Ive seen on him. The temptation will be there to bring him on and it might work, but if things aren't going your way and England are getting in your face he might be a risk

Maybe not 'whenever' but I shudder to think of our last tour. Schmidts team produced a fairly unique match in autumn. A massive pity we didn't shake that monkey off our back but if Schmidt call install a winning mentality we'll be halfway there.

Back to the game, both sides look a little rusty but oddly enough England look the more likely to score. I still don't know what that DG was all about.

Cruden has been pedestrian in recent weeks. He's a good fly half, don't get me wrong, but returning from injury. Barrett just makes everything look effortless. NZ really need to up the tempo, a battle in the trenches will suit England to a T.

Being level at half time is not a good position against BNZ. They always dominate the last quarter and England would need to have a solid two score buffer to weather the storm.

That was not smart by Dane Coles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Good call after a great kick. NZ's brashness is now bordering on stupidity.

    Great kick from Smith.

May is a nothing player at this level.

Watching Jonny May chase a kick i do wonder if he ever bothers to actually look where the ball is. That is a few times he has been nowhere near the kick.

Brainless from Coles there. Coach killer

Well spotted by Owens, Yarde was taken earlier in a similar incident and not came of it.

There's times where he's reminiscent of the new fast kid at underage who is all excited but not a clue what he's actually doing.

I'm not disagreeing that they allowed themselves to lose the game, just disagreeing with the poster that said they were intimidated by the black jersey.

As you say, hopefully that's that monkey thrown off their back now.

    Cruden has been terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Why the hell did Youngs step away from that ruck and let a forward pass it?

Two missed penalties there. Parling pulled down in the air and then an England player straight in the side at the ruck.

Are you taking the piss now Owens? Awful call it went a mile back.

It hit the hand but going backwards is irrelevant?

    What is Owens on about?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Just as he went for it I was thinking he should leave it, bit harsh though.

Is it lashing there and I just can't see the rain on my stream?

Ahhh Nige. Under no circumstances was that a knock on. Thankfully NZ messed it up but if they had have scored there...

    No rain at all.

Unreal number of handling errors so!

It's an entertaining game but, truth be told, it's very poor quality!

  • Administrators Posts: 54,510 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

How do teams end up getting caught with the wrong number in the lineout?

That'd infuriate me if I was a coach. Can they not count?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

    Barrett for dagg :(

    Cruden lives on...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

That was such a chance for Kaino!

Something very wrong with how England were set up in defence there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Where the hell was Mike Brown?!

Yarde just booted him!! Not a mention of it!

What is Owens at? Some dodgy decisions, and not the first time reffing NZ either. Both games against Ireland he made wrong calls which decided the match

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,718 ✭✭✭Taco Corp

    that was class from Morgan

But it was like Yarde was expecting Browne to be covering in behind.

That was just outstanding by Ben Morgan.

Barnes moaning about Owens all day but then stays quiet when yarde clearly takes his man out.

I dunno, I think it was either brilliantly cynical or he just missed the ball.

    Some game.

Some passage of play. England lack composure and are missing Care hugely.

Wilson! That guy can't catch. Luckily. Nice back play from England.

Nah he blatantly used his leg to take him out, nowhere near the ball. Yc for me.

I don't know if it was intentional but the near side prop for England was scrummaging at right angles for that 5m scrum. It opened up the space for Morgan though so maybe it was intentional
