Well as I predicted .. its 'Dead In The Water' .. as if it ever started ?

Northgate have announced that they will be closing their 'Castlebar Facility' (Sic) from the 2nd of December next with the loss of '6' jobs ..yes .. you read right .. 6 !!!!

Another pre election stunt announcement by Enda .... would expect a similar fate for the 'Opensparkz' announcement

Seems to be headed that way. Was plenty of hoo ha and lads interviewed but heard of no one hired yet.

    Rer Northgate/Open sparks etc

    Sympathies with the disappointed workers.

Anyone know if IDA were involved? They normally are very thorough in checking proposals before announcements

just like the 'Opensparkz' debacle .. it would appear that the IDA have no connection with these 'job announcements' .. but run by Mayo County Council through its 'Local Enterprise Office' (LEO).

The LEO have NO experience when it comes to assessing, creditation or checking proposed employment opportunities. This should be left to the experts that have been doing it for over 40 years !

Would be interesting to know how much money was spent by the Co. Co. in trying to entice Northgate to set up in Castlebar .. and what financial / other assistance were given to them .. ?

It'd probably be refused on grounds of "commercial sensitivity".

I see in the Mayo News report that the contract award when Northgate was the only bidder wasn't renewed due conflict of interest with a person on the committee who awarded it had previously worked for Northgate. Hardly surprising I suppose!

Gives them some time to get new investment ( 90 days usually ). It is a great idea, promotes the country abroad and keeps the diaspora in touch.

Deserves support. Hope it gets it. Crowd funding?

Great Idea indeed .. if you had someone else's 'never-ending dosh' ...

Set it up and then went around the world pretending they were 'someone' .. yet carrying a debt of 9 Million Euro's ... tis a great world .. you'll get nougt from the Irish Diaspoa !
