Title says it all really. Anyone know anywhere around Dublin that's like the Workman's (atmosphere, music, crowd etc.) but isn't The Workman's?

    Danke

That'd be a polar opposite in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think The Bernard Shaw might actually be a good bet, especially because the large smoking area.

Only thing about Bernard Shaw is it closes early.

It's Club Hell which is O'Reilly at Tara Street.

Smoking area there is great but, as someone else said, it closes early. Also the music can be really hit and miss.

If you're looking for somewhere for dancing then Whelan's or Twisted Pepper. Club Hell is good but it's more of a metal bar.

I wouldn't have TP on par with The Workman's at all, especially at the weekends. TP is way more dance/house type music!

The Bernard Shaw, then Whelans would be a good bet!

You know you're old when... you read the above as The City of Dublin Working Men's Club and you're recommending An Góilín Traditional Singers' Club as an alternative.

Ahh in fairness Whelans CAN be quality, depends on what night though.

Very pricey and never any promos but jumping around drunkenly to the indie classics there on a Saturday night is all kinds of fun

I would see that the other way round, I only go to the Workmanship because it's closet.

Bernard Shaw has got to be the closest to the Workmans.

Whelans is a big pile of poo. Used to love the place once upon a time.

Clientele maybe but the music in the Shaw is nothing like the Workmans stuff

It guess it was OK if you were 16 and had an incredibly obviously fake ID, or if you'd drank a 700 mL bottle of vodka before heading out and couldn't get in anywhere else.

Otherwise I couldn't see much reason in going there.
