I think there could be a few tasty enough storms here later this evening. Midlands and east most at risk, with storms tracking in band eastwards.

Havent been impressed with estofex' outcomes. Am ignoring it from now on.

As with other chart, forecast and trend observations, it cannot be taken in isolation.

More chances of storms end of the week

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Looks like there could be a lot of good storms this week for the Midlands and West in particular nice set-up right through most afternoons this week!

East coast looks best spot to stay dry with best sunshine but perhaps we might get a storm at some point!

Nice few rumbles here .... Was on the beach thought it was a lorry in the distance .... Didn't expect it with these low clouds/fog hanging around all day

Chance of some storms popping up in midlands to northern areas tomorrow afternoon/evening, maybe one or two further east too.

Nothing severe expected but enough ingredients for your typical Irish thunderstorms. :)

Just seen a link to this post was posted on the IrishWeatherNetwork forum.

Moderate Risk of Thunderstorms Ireland 12z-21z

    Ireland's turn!

Upper ridging effects most of eastern UK through Tues though Ireland is influenced by low pressure out in the Atlantic. UKMO forecast charts show a pre fontal surface trough develop over eastern and central Ireland associated with a deep unstable fetch from the Azores during the afternoon where CAPE is predicted to reach 1100 j/kg. Cloud tops in NW expected to reach 30,000 ft and could well tap into a fairly moderate jet stream aloft. If this can occur then storms in that region may develop supercell characteristics for a time. We can then expect a risk of large hail and and isolated tornado event. The mid level strong PVA should assist this process.

Bit cloudy up there NNW for the fishermen at 17:45, but no re-enactment of the scenes from 2012/Tornado.

btw, Please don't ever watch the movie called 'Sharnado' which it's about a tornado made up of sharks (-0/10).

Well that didn't turn out too exciting, maybe next time a little more interesting.

Estofex putting most of the country inside the 15% risk zone Wednesday.

Evelyn warning of thunderstorms "more than likely" breaking out tomorrow in Connaught/midlands with "lightning strikes and hail possible"

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

UK Met Office have a warning out for heavy thunderstorms over southwest England tomorrow. As you can see from the model above, conditions over southwest England will be similar to over western/southwestern areas here too.

    and they arrived!
Woke up by thunder during the night ,no idea of the time, just rolled over and went back asleep :o
    There was very little rain.

Not the thread for it,but it wouldn't be the first time welsh imports were ignored in the previous evenings rte forecast #notveryprofessional

Skies look quite menacing to my south. Those showers seem to have brought their own 'plume' of warm air as it has just reached 22.0c here now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,482 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

It's already starting up in south west England.
