Hearing reports of bad flooding in Letterkenny, almost a year to the day since the new hospital ward was destroyed by a flash flood so hopefully no repeat

Just a note to watch out for Saturday evening and night. Keeping a close eye on a developing depression that threatens exceptionally heavy rain. It may miss us to the south as some models indicate or it could be a direct hit. Potential for disruptive weather appears to be growing. But that's still 100 + hours out.

Now back to the storms :D

Still amazes me how fast these things fizzle when the energy goes, about 2 hours ago there was a black sky an hour later it had turned bright and the cloud started to break up, anyone get any good storms today?

We might have more to come, this is the latest image from Rain alarm, which is the latest radar image and it looks like there might be some activity later in the night, unfortunately it has to be said that the cells that were present out in the Atlantic seem to be fading as they approach us.

I thought that a they were dying out as they neared the coast, but though it might be worth mentioning them.

According to net weather 1 over Irish sea about 40 mins ago

  • Registered Users Posts: 635 ✭✭✭Video

    Current Forecast:
    Tuesday, 05 August 2014 22:30
    Today
Thunderstorm activity for a time yet tonight over Ulster; showers merging to longer spells of rain and spot flooding. Heavy showery rain for a time in the east too, gradually clearing northeastwards. Later in the night some further showers will push in from the Atlantic, though they are unlikely to be heavy. Fog patches will form inland around dawn. Light to moderate, mainly southerly breezes will slacken overnight. Staying rather mild; lowest temperatures 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Whats the betting Gerry Wrote that? surprised he didn't begin with

Line of showers developing running up through the midlands. One spark so far. http://brunnur.vedur.is/athuganir/eldingar/i_dag_na.html?

Just got a very heavy shower in the past few minutes. The sun was still beaming down for most of it. Lots of convection going on outside now. That cell near portlaoise with the lightning is still building and heading this way
