why does it get extremely hot just before a thunderstorm?? (or is it my imagination)

today in the sun i could see a thunderstorm coming on the horizon and the temperature seemed to rise to sweltering levels....any connection?

You will feel atmospheric agitation and with that an increase in heat, you are probably feeling the instability, the ground is electrically charged waiting for an opposite charge to release energy, some people actually feel the tingling.

Missed the action in Limerick as I was up the Galtees earlier though I heard a lot of thunder in the distance from these CBs. The showers looked nasty! :p

Saw a picture earlier of some nasty enough flooding on the old Ennis road I think.

Heavy rain and thunder - north east Kilkenny.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,749 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Looking out the window there appears to be a squall like stretching from north KK into Carlow by the looks of it. Producing thunder.

Yeah 5 claps of thunder so far, watching the match so not looking for lightning.
    Intensity picking up.
