    yes!

The short questions were awful, didn't get the series question at all or the induction.. and kinda messed up 2 others. The long questions were pretty easy for once, but there was one part from each of the 3 I couldn't get. Also where was the algebra and financial maths? Hopefully got a C at least in that.

    -.0339 is what I got for k in Q9.

Did it not say round to three significant figures?

I thought the short questions were awful compared to the Section B questions. Section B ones were nice.

Said three significant figures... -0.034 is technically wrong!

Me too, but did 'three significant figures' mean we had to say -0.034? I was in two minds about it :(

Ya, I did. I think I made a bit of a mess of it though. Was the very last part -2(x-3)^2 +4?

I hadn't done it in a while but I recognised that.

    Yep! :D
I did and I was so happy I looked over it this morning.

Same! Hadn't looked at it since beginning of first year and saw it this morning :pac:

Just found out that it means the next 3 numbers after the decimal thats not a zero :( so it would've been 0.034 and something else after the 4

Leading zeros are not significant figures :)

Zeros don't count as a significant figure, answer should have been -0.0339 :P

Significant figures are the figures after any zeros.

So 0.05 to one significant figure is 0.05.

    So yeah, -0.0339.

Did anyone else get the area under the bridge to be ~194m²?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 Wernher Von Braun

Does anyone have a list of the proofs that can come up in paper 2? Is it just the 3 theorems and the trig identities?

I wrote this down... then right after it I wrote = -0.03 because I wasn't fully sure if 0 is significant or not.
Do I still get full marks?

Thank god I wrote down both, will I lose marks in the others though for using -.034

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,224 ✭✭✭robman60

Significant figures means the figures after the first 0. It doesn't have to be a decimal either. For example 8.65332 would be 8.65 to three significant figures. K was -0.0339, as Nimrod said.

    Daniel2590 wrote: »

Yep.. I got that by dividing the bridge into 3 parts and integrating them.

For all of you worrying about whether you wrote down how many figures , I forgot to include the minus figure , therefore my temperature was increasing with time... awfu awful awful

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,645 ✭✭✭Daniel2590

I'm fairly sure if you carry a wrong answer into the next part but use the right method you'll either lose none or very few marks for the following parts.

Was the third root in q2
3/2 or something like that ... Can't remember exactly what I got . Could be plus or minus
