Race report from last years spine race
(Havent read it yet.but i know enduro said it was a handy one)

Stick a "h" at start of dat link as im a new user

Yeah, just a little trot in the park :) (well, 3 national parks).

The Spine starts on Saturday. We're all carrying trackers again, so live coverage of us pushing the dots along can be found here.

My guess is it will be a 3 way race between numbers 1,2 and 3!

Weather looks like it will start wet, then turn pretty damn cold early next week. So plenty to deal with as usual. Hopefully no enforced stops required this year, since no 100km/hr winds are forecast this time.

A nice little starter for the year.

    Best of luck.

Any chance in tactics? Don't give yer man a head start this year ;)

Good luck! I hope it works out for you this time. Looking forward to a report in person at the Great Outdoors, but by the winner this time! ;)

Enduro has given his rivals the slip and is now leading the Spine race. Tracker is down last hour or so but hopefully he's still going.

Enduro has an hour lead at the moment on second and third. About 6km gap.

6k an hour......damn should have entered that race, might have had a shot at the podium:P;):D;):pac:

Enduro has about an hour lead at the moment.

Seems to be a big push by the top 3. Looks like race could be decided in the next few hours. Probably finish around midnight, early morning.

Down to 1.5 k according to reports. Pavel, ladt years winner, has separated from Eugenio and opened a big gap on him. Chasing down Enduro.
Reportedly posted online that he's off 'to kick Eoin's ass'! Enduro went straight through the latest checkpoint.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,140 ✭✭✭snailsong

Update. Pavel has stopped at cp5, presumably for grub. Gap opening again.

Not getting a lot of work done today...

Pavel's tracker hasn't registered since 15:03. Guessing that means he's still indoors enjoying a cuppa...

    Eoin ~9k ahead.

Edit: Pavel pinged at CP5 at 15:54. The lead grows.

    Home stretch now....Great running Enduro!!

Hearing reports that he has built his lead by not stopping for breaks at CPs! Also heard he is operating on only 5 hours of sleep since the start of the race:eek:

    Absolute Machine.

Immense performance. Hope he can fnish it out now with no drama.

  • Registered Users Posts: 589 ✭✭✭lgk

Home straight now, only a couple of k to go after building a very significant lead over Pavel, over 20k I make it.

Mind blowing! We'll have to make sure that such a performance so early in the year is not forgotten when the nominations for 2016 are made!!!

    Incredible performance.

He's set a new course record, knocking 15 hours off the previous time set by second place Pavel in 2014. And he's no slouch.

    Astonishing stuff.

    Congrats Enduro.

I can't even begin to comprehend the effort level, dedication, training, mindset, willpower and all round guts etc needed to get yourself trained up for a challenge like this. There is one word for it - CRAZY !

This chap is even crazier  He's done the race and turned around to do it again in reverse.

    Hats off to you guys.

@Endura whenever you get to write up a race report would you mind an outline of how you dealt with nutrition during race and also the cold? Did you practice at cold adaptation?

Well done, signing up for that event takes some balls winning it is off the charts
