Unsure if this is the right forum but know there is a lot of people that frequently visit this forum with a lot of knowledge.

Are there any legal issues or other problems in setting up a "fan" website around a popular video game? Have already reached out to the creators and other higher ups by email and twitter... no response what so ever.

I am sure creating a website for the video game and write up some strategy guides, other interesting and helpful articles, create videos on youtube about it and embed, ETC are no problem BUT what about monetizing the website with things like Amazon affiliate and Adsense? Is that allowed?

Isnt a website focused on this game a GOOD thing for them? Do we need to ask permission and get an official green light to go ahead with it?

    THANKS!

It's often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission ;)

They are never going to permit/endorse your site, as it might confer rights to you. As long as you do not claim to be so endorsed or to be an "official XYZ" site, you can work away. On your home page you should acknowledge their trademarks as belonging to them.

After that you are in the clear

Yes thanks for that. I was not going to claim that im the official one or be endorse by them.

I will put all the copyright and trademarks for the game in the footer.

    Thanks again.
