Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buy in the US or claim VAT back ?

There's a chance I'll be visiting the US later this summer & I'm in the market for a fully loaded MBP.

I can claim the VAT back if I buy it here, which will leave me with €2100(isn) to pay Vs buying it in the US which will leave me with an extra €200 in my pocket...

Ignoring the "of course you're going to declare it at customs" question. Are there any other benefits (warranty coverage/applecare etc) to buying it here rather than there ? Would I need to get a different power supply ?

FWIW I'd probably be buying an iPad also

    Hi

I've bought stuff both here and the US, as have a few people I know. The only catches are
    1. Apple being iffy about warentee issues - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=90665054&postcount=9
    2. US adapters supplied in the box, getting official three pin adapters can be a pain.

For me I'll drag apple through the mill if I need too, to get warentee repairs - haven't needed to though, and I have to accept they may not help me no matter what I do. I happen to have a spare three pin adapter, so that was easy for me.

It's tricky in your case with the relatively close price after the vat reclaim it, you may want to consider carefully the impact of the question over the warentee. Particularly on a €2000 MBP.
