Hi guys, my friends and I are 18 and would like to go out to watch some world cup games this summer. Any pubs in Cork that will show the games and are not 21's or 23's? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Anything more specific than that? A lot of the bigger pubs that show the matches seem to be 21s

You'll be very hard pushed to find a pub/bar in the city centre that'll allow U-18's. Not sure, but think licensing issues might be at play.

Is there nowhere local that's showing the games? There must be!

Think you read it wrong. We are 18, looking for somewhere that's not 21s or 23s where we can watch the games and have a few drinks

    I meant u-21's. Sorry!

But the point remains. Think you'll be very hard pushed to find a city centre boozer that'll allow you in.

As long as your well dressed and sober then The Thomond will let you in. Get too messy and they'll escort you out tho

Riordans on Washhington Street had a great setup for the Heineken Cup before. Massive screens all over the place. I'm not sure will they have a similar setup for the World Cup, but if they do, I'd try there.

Not for a group of 18 year olds

The woolshed should be absolutely fine op. As long as you got your ID you'll be solid. Probably best place to watch a match too.

The Grafton have a big screen and is 18s during the day. The Anglers Sports Bar has a rake of TVs.

Tbh I would be hard pressed to think of a pub (bar the likes of Reardons etc) that wouldn't let 18s in during the day.

    Rob Roy?

It's all part of growing up in Cork being turned away from pubs in town.

    Woolshed, Sober Lane, Old Oak.

I can't see any of these pubs turning down 18 year olds as long as you aren't drunk and making a racket.

The England game is on this Saturday at 11, will Reardens have the music off for people to watch the match or will they have the tvs on but with no sound with music?

The Brú comes to mind. Sober Lane as well, I'd say.

Ye'll get in somewhere anyway, don't worry.

It's a pity Nancy Spain's isn't still around. It was a great pub for the World Cup matches for people of a "young" age. As long as your head could been seen over the top of the bar, they'd serve you.

The Charcoal Grill on Popes Quay has a screen for World Cup. Lovely food too. Very reasonable.

    Old Oak isn't 18's friendly.

Id say given the time the matches are on, the woolshed is your best bet. The old oak will let you in too id say.

Sober Lane would the first place that springs to my mind. Usually a young crowd in there. Plenty of TVs in there too.

Sober Lane was 21's for Brazil v Croatia, but they let my friends in no bother. I watched Spain v Netherlands in Costigans last night, nice crowd in there and there's never any bother getting in.

It's never hard to get into any of those places as long as you look respectable. Obviously, it's easier for girls to get in places as well. :pac::cool:
