Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hoddle on the ITV accidentally calling Algeria, Al Jazeera. Have to say that made me laugh way too much.

"The problem with Al Jazeera now.."

Cleared it up straight away but still found it funny. Somewhere an Al Jazeera reporter was momentarily insulted :P
    Tweet from Al Jazeera

"@AlJazeera: Just for the record to clarify @AlJazeera is a Media network and not a country, #Algeria on the other hand is a country #worldcup2014"

Maybe someone out there can help me find this. Who remembers Stephen Alkin's "Sneiiiijderrrrrr" from World Cup 2010. The took the micky out of it on Aprés Match too. Can't find a video of either the real thing or the Aprés Match version. Anyone know of a link?

Trying to show people why RTE is where you should watch EVERY football tournament. :)

    Cheers.

Smug Brady knows he's been shown up by friedel, not impressed at all

Brady obviously has a bit of disdain for Brad, maybe coz of the Arsenal / Spurs rivalry. Hope Brazil win it now #teambrad #sorryforthehashtag

Brad will be on for the US Belgium game also. Kenny will be there to argue with him.

Brady has disdain for anyone that actually does what they are paid to do.

Lawrenson talking about the free kick Switzerland just got!

    Co-commentator says "No contact"
Lawrenson replies "Yeah in super slow motion, I want to see real time"

....Lawro you do know that won't change if there was contact or not, yes?

Probably imagining it but has Kenny 'raging bull' Cunningham been cut from the panel in the last few matches. Haven't seen him since Squirt gate.

He was on yesterday evening, defending Matuidi's leg breaker tackle.

Eamon Dunphy waxing lyrical about how Messi makes us remember why it's called The Beautiful Game there.

    Beautiful.

Say what you like about Dunphy, he still loves the game.

Kenny looks more relaxed, Brad's voice is a soothing presence.

Why would you get Kenny to analyse Tim Howard when you have Brad Friedel sitting next to him? :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 739 ✭✭✭Cantstandsya

So RTE get a veteran USA/Premier League goalkeeper to do punditry on the USA games, then Darragh Maloney turns to Kenny Cunningham, "tell me about Tim Howard", are they taking the piss?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭Tinie

My ideal panel would be the current one, but just if they just swapped kenny with Ritchie. That would be RTEs best panel for actual football analysis.

RTEs sound is off by a good bit AGAIN.

Origi didn't even have the ball and hje was praising Howard for his save...over to BBC for me.

Yeah, I'll have to go over to BBC as well. RTÉ has the sound 2 seconds ahead of the pictures.

Thank you all for the good news about a/v being back in sync. George Hamilton is probably my favourite TV commentator. I'll just ignore Ray Houghton.

Agreed. Would love George and Kerr on all the big games.

I could have sworn Kenny was singing Felaini's praises the other day, now he's agreeing with Didi that he's brutal. Does this suggest that Kenny is not analytical and instead makes his points based on whatever petulant point he happens to be trying to make at that "particular moment in time"...

I thought he was advocating him playing further up the field the other day and that he doesn't rate him in the centre.

    Flip Flop Kenny

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,320 ✭✭✭v3ttel

    Oh piss off Ray Houghton.

"I've been so disappointed with his performance"
    "He hasn't done enough"
    "The pressing game isn't effective"
    "What an awful effort"
"How many shots has he scored from that distance in his career"
"The pace has gone out of the team completely. There is no energy"
    "He isn't contributing"
    "Wasteful"
    "Really poor effort"

6 mins of listening to Houghton's commentary...... I wonder if he genuinely hates football.

I don't remember that, he was saying he was a useless lump wasn't he?

  • Registered Users Posts: 87 ✭✭Invertpyramid

    No.

He was saying he was a top player but only in his best position, which is off the striker. He agreed at the time that he is not a central midfielder at all, is wasted in midfield and shouldn't be played there ahead of anybody else.

His opinion now is the same. No flip flop.

Understandable cause teams have become more safe and don't want to give away the first goal. There's no second chances in the knockout rounds. Still a great World cup.

Yeah that sounds more like it.

Kenny is talking through his arse if he thinks he's a top player in any position though.
