When it comes to wiring i night as well be looking at a bag of chips!
Can't get an earth for a headunit.
In fact i know an earth is something that worrying needs to work and it loves bare metal.
That's the extent of it really. .
    Want a hand :)

So today was more wiring, routing the loom and reconnecting things

And now I have a shiny pipe on both cars! :D

    9t0aw7.jpg

So everything is wired back in that can be wired back in the coolant temp sensor decided to call it a day and break today too
Speedo cable is back in, power steering is rigged up and the belt is back on, tensioned too

    2z6gj89.jpg

I also began fitting things, the tie rods are on,

    28vbv9y.jpg

So tomorrow should hopefully involve a trip to the scrapyard and get trim bits and screws and the like

Good luck at the scrappie, if you see a decent condition rear black bumper on a 9-3SS there, let me know!

So i went to kilcock today to pillage to 900 there for bits, and i was not disappointed

    All this for 2 euro

    f9eh3r.jpg

They've a headlining there too so when i have 50/60 quid, getting that too. In the pile of crap was some important bits

    34telpk.jpg

So i got started on my first "wiring job" safe to say it wasn't great, but it done the job
So stripped the wire and wrapped them around each other

    auz0k2.jpg

    A dodgy soldering attempt later....

    281adf7.jpg

I also got some underbody seal and an oil filter

    v3gjeh.jpg

I stuck in the o2 sensor also, torqued to 40Nm ;)

    15p0adf.jpg

Then i stuck the slam panel back on, it's beginning to look like a car again :D

    2uqp3ps.jpg

I need three hose clips and the engine is ready :) then in goes the rad, fan, oil, and other fluids

What did your mechanic do to the engine?

Just minded it for me :) I done all the work

Be better to use some shrink wrap:

    Or this type:
    2014-03-12173257_zpse727277c.jpg

Get them cheap on ebay or halfrauds if it's handier. It's come this far why let it all go to ****e with bad wiring.

Really fair play to you. I can do just basic stuff. Change discs, pads, oil, oil filter, spark plugs, coil packs etc... wheel bearings. I wouldn't dream of touching an engine in case I ****ed it up.

I have some of the second picture, but I've no idea what to do to make a connection yknow? I youtubed it and got a very vague video, looked a bit more and still more vague things, so I'd need to be shown first yknow so i might get my mechanic to show me tomorrow or something

Why didn't you just buy a new spade connection? They only cost a few cent and then you would have a clean connection.

Never thought of it to be honest, I might get one tomorrow or something

So i jumped into the scary world of wiring today :o so using the old spade (again) because i didn't have enough wire to lob on a new one i began by undoing the tape and cutting the tie where the wire was soldered, and stuck on a connector

    29nxrnn.jpg

Some shrink tubing later, and we have this

    2cftgmg.jpg

Done the alternator connection too, where i could use a new piece, so heres that!

    jhdefs.jpg

    Next in went the driveshafts

    33cage8.jpg

Then the headlights, grille and bumper, which leads us to this :)

    10659376_774822492561480_4664638623439403174_n.jpg?oh=a904169d1412ce3326c44b44adddc503&oe=548F0266

Needs one little plug for the rad and an indicator which I'll be getting monday morning :)

Quick question, kinda car related. What age are you?
Would you not wait till you are 25 and get classic insurance.
Two policies at roughly a grand each is pricey.

Also great job on the car, really coming together.

I'm 23, I probably will end up doing that to be honest, because at the minute it is a tad silly like, also thank ya :)

Been a while since i had a "ahhhh fcuk" moment :o

And today was the day, the day where i started the car again, I filled it up with oil, connected up the battery, began filling the coolant, checking for leaks.....and there was two, one which was a loose pipe, fair enough, the other was a bit more serious :o

    We all remember this guy?

    ok31v8.jpg

Well it decided to spring a leak today! So......it had to come out to be resealed, properly, If it happens again well I don't know what to do, gona stick it back on tomorrow and cover the whole surface with sealer

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

So today I attacked the port again, armed with

    Copper crush washers
A gasket I made out of gasket paper
    Copious amounts of dirko sealer

    Annnnnnd.....no more leak! :D

Gona get my exhaust looked at tomorrow in work and then get the other ball joint in and bolted up, brakes on and away we go! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

    Touchdowwwn! :D

Today i got thelast ball joint back in, brakes back on, and set up for bleeding when i get some brake fluid

    The new discs/pads
