Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Top scorers in the UCL group stages this season!
Jose's boring style of play continues :D

We did have an easy group though to be fair, looking back Sporting are poor and we were 5 goals better than the second seed (Schalke) when we went away from home to them.

In truth we could and should have scored similar amounts away to Sporting but Rui Patrico was in fine form, also the home game against Schalke should have been 3 or 4 easily and also the Maribor game could have easily been 8 or 9.

Our finishing or lack of, has cost us more goals in the UCL and EPL yet we're still winning games but not as comfortably.

Barring Cesc being out the team should be

    Courtois
    Ivan Cahill JT Azp
    Mikel Matic
    Willian Oscar Hazard
    Costa

Maybe schurrle and zouma have done ebough to make Jose second guess the above XI
If 100% fit I'd prefer to see ramieres instead of Mikel against hull , more box to box getting beyond their defense

Ya, although part of me wants to try 2 CF's, we're at home to Hull.

I know it wont be done but a team of

    x

    x
    x
    x
    x

    x

    x
    x
    x

    x
    x

Wouldnt be to hard to try out and TBH we should be beating Hull but with Cesc out we lost that ability to unlock teams so we might need a 2nd CF to create space for the other.

    Dream team would be

    Courtois
    Ivan Zouma JT Azp
    Matic
    Willian Oscar Hazard
    Drogba Costa

Theres a 40% chance we'll get a tough draw in this years Round of 16.

Juventus, Basle, Bayer Leverkusen, Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk

I'd take the other 3 over the bolded 2 any day of the week, although I'd happily take on Juventus over PSG.

    on to Hull ....

when is the UCL last 16 draw ? this Friday or next ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭DubDani

Statistically Chelsea is most likely to get Leverkusen. Someone created a spreadsheet with considerations of all possible draws etc...

Chelsea become the first club to pay a living wage rather than minimum wage. Good news for all those who work for the club, good to see they are valued.

Fair play to Chelsea - every EPL club should be doing this

I'd take Leverkusen as long as we avoid PSG I'll be happy enough.

Good news for anyone working with the club inside the ground and in the shops, London being a very expensive place to live and work thats good news for them folks.

Ya, with the extra TV funding, the biggest clubs can really afford this pretty easily you'd imagine.

Good article about the illness that schurrle has been suffering from .... He doesn't know What it's called though :)

    http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelseas-andre-schurrle-looks-in-rude-health-after-battling-back-from-his-mystery-illness-9917137.html

Didnt sound like he had a good few weeks with the illness.

He can push Willian for a starting place when hes back fully fit anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,249 ✭✭✭MaroonAndGreen

That was an important win against Sporting, and Jose knew it too, otherwise Loftus-Cheek would have been on the pitch earlier. The mood is back to normal again after the win, and win against Hull (which im very confident we will) and the Newcastle game is forgotten and Chelsea will have started another winning/unbeaten run.

    Which part?

The only thig I will say is we're the best equipped English team to win it and I'd predict we'll go the furthest out fo the other 2, even if Arsenal or City get through to the QF/SF/Final I'd happily play either.

Cech starting in goal tomorrow. Courtois out with a muscular problem.

Hopefully Oscar will be playing in central midfield tomorrow and Schurrle will take his position then.

Let Willian take Oscars, and have Schurrle out wide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

With courtois out weve got the best number to call upon in the world. No issue there.

    The main problem is CM.

I dont think ramires or mikel an offer half of what Cesc can so id love Oscar in there hes better defensively and the next best playmaker we have from cm.

    Cech
    Ivan cahill JT azp
    Oscar matic
    Schurrle willian hazard
    Costa

Should see the job done bench of

    Schwarzer
    Zouma luis
    mikel ramires remy
    Drogba

For the outlay its not to bad, probably 40 euro once its delivered.

Considering some retro shirts go for double that on sites.

Chelsea line-up v Hull: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Filipe Luis; Mikel, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Diego Costa.

Mikel is seriously not needed in a game like this, very disappointing selection. Glad to see Luis in as we will be more of a threat down the left now.

Mikel allows Matic to move further forward, could be worse

True, still think we could have went more attacking though.
