Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Next week is big week in the league.

We travel to swansea at 3 on Saturday while City travel to Arsenal on sunday at 1.30.

Theres no gimmes in either of those games IMO.

I would have perferred more goals today as the GD my be vital come May as it stands we're 2 clear of city, scored 1 more and left in 1 less.

everyone, nasri nearly played him in with a minute to go as well in the 18 yard box, an everton toe kept it away from him.

Not a great game at all and we're let off a few times, with cech showing his class when needed.
Still I can't help but hark back to last season where a game of today's standard generally petered out to a 0-0 or worse, a defeat.

have to say zouma looked great today , KEEP HIM IN

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    Pros today :
    Cech clean sheet
Zouma looked comfortable all the attacks were down JT's side
Oscar scored and assisted, even though he was ok
    Costa goal
    City draw

    Cons :
40mins newcastle were better than us and should have had a lead
Not getting started until we were in the lead against the run of play
    Azp injury
Another penalty incident going against us

Swansea will be without Bony next week so no powerhouse threat per se, I'd keep him in.

It'll be interesting to see how bad Azp is injured as it could give Luis a run of games.

Gomis seems to be slowly getting to grips with the game in England and I reckon he could be a handful.

Well it depends how they deploy him, if he sticks out left on JT & azp or Luis he'll have a field day, if he goes the other way and runs into Ivan & Zouma/Cahill he'll be in for a different battle, I know which side I'd be picking on anyway.

We need a big away performance and putting win under our belt away from home, we havent won away since Stoke, lost at Newcastle, Spurs and drew with sunderland in the last 4 away games, a win is a 100% must IMO.

Coupled with the fact that city play arsenal, a must win game.

So harry kane goes down very easy...no booking. If that was a chelsea player he'd be booked.

Jose is right, conspiracy against us.

I'd love if City drew again next week against Arsenal.

Arsenal are due a good performance sometime this season..

I'd love a 4 point cushion when we play them, would take the pressure off when we play them the week after.

They will seriously miss Yaya in this period IMO.

As long as we get our win 1st on Saturday im not pushed. Swansea will be a very tough test for this team.

We can play the strongest team in Wales and rest the others unti we play city in our next league game.

Means we can rotate against Liverpool, bradford/millwall and liverpool again.

We're 8 points up from last years total already.

City are 4 up from last years total as it stands too.

    Arsenal - 3
    Liverpool - 16

Hey, guys. I'm away in Leitrim for the weekend, so didn't get to see the game.

    How did we play?

Very poor 1st half, lucky to be leading at HT, newcastle hit the post, Cech made a good save.

Improved 2nd half, well in control, werent tested in the 2nd half.

    6/10 I'd say.

An indication of where Costas goals have come from this season

Poacher, his furthest out effort was today it seems.

    Diego "Ronseal" Costa.
Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Today he wasnt great but youll always feel he has a goal in him unlike the cfs last year.

    Makes a big difference.

Agreed, I was making more of a reference to your post above though, looking at the positions that he scores from. Just exactly - his function - if you know what I mean.
Exactly , as you said, what we were missing last year. I think the whole of the premiership, along with us, know how dangerous he is / can be.

Job done against Newcastle. Three more scrappy points against Swansea will be fine too. Keep our powder dry for a big performance against City. That's the way to do it.
