Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A good thing this year so far is our net spend in the window.

    We've spent a reported 85m and made back 74.2m

Leaving us with a net spend of 10.8m

Given we've made about 90million from last years TV/EPL/UCL prize money that leaves us with somewhere around 80million to re-invest if we need it, or bank it and comply with FFP for another year next year.

Looking at other teams we've done well this year.

    Arsenal - 41.8
    Pool - 10m
    City - 10m
    Utd - 47.7m

All those teams might go out and spend again, even we might buy again.

Looking at Utd in the last 2 seasons the net spend is

    2 seasons :

    Chelsea - 63.9
    Arsenal - 74.3m
    City - 131.3m
    Pool - 30.3m
    Utd - 114.4

Apparently Kenneth Omeruo impressed for The 'Boro on Saturday despite their loss.

    Linky

Bamford made a good start to his pre season so a good loan at 'Boro might help him make the step up to 1st team level.

Is this the end of Cech at Chelsea? Cant wait to hear what Jose says about the decision!

Mourinho sky interview , 10 years ago I also had a very difficult decision to make (Cudicini vs Cech). This situation is quite similar."

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

    Really looking forward to this.
Great to see Schurrle getting the start. He's linked up well with Costa during pre-season and offers more of a goal threat than Salah and Willian.

Looks like Cech is moving on. :( Absolute legend for the club.
But we have a world-class talent in Courtois so the decision had to be made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I just hope courtois doesnt f**k up or the press will be on it like a rash. Either way, Cech or Courtois, weve the best set of gks in the world for now.

Cech is to good for the bench so if he does leave he'll leave a chelsea hero.

Jose's getting his kinds of players in. The difference with last season should be night and day. Which means tonight we should be able to graft out a two-goal victory.

A clean sheet for Courtois and a goal for Costa would be the icing on the cake.

I really hope Costa rams my doubts about him firmly down my throat :) looking at a 3-0 win hopefully.

Good result but Oscar seems to have gone backwards. He needs some time on the bench.

Happy enough with that, taught we took the foot off the gas in the second half but the way we pushed on after going 1 down was impressive.
Maybe a little loose at the back but I don't think turf moor is an easy place to go, nice to get it out of the way early rather than having to go at squeaky bum time.

I presume Chelsea will appeal Costa's yellow ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Can you appeal against yellow cards? If so, they definitely should. Was a blatant peno. Fair enough, he might have went looking for it, but t'was no dive, English...

Nah cant appeal yellows only reds, even 2 yellows that lead to a red cant be appealed

it was arrogance of the ref, 'of course he dived'

last night costa surprised me in that he is very much an all round good player, good passing, good decision making and of course one good chance, one goal

Costa took his only chance well, ddint think about it just hit it, got slightly lucky with it but his overall play deserved it.

4th official was Mike Dean, Jose doesnt exactly see eye to eye with him so that must have been interesting when Costa went down.

At one stge Costa tried to play a one - two with Cesc or Ivan I think and the other guy stopped his run and Costa started freaking out, this was at 3-1 with about 10mins to go, thats the kind of character we need, a warrior.

His passing and link play was very good too, if he matches his Atletico average of a goal every two game he'll finish with 19 league goals, I'd take that right now.

    Cesc is God
