Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Courtois deserves a mention too hes made 2 good saves and a few catches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Best thing I like about Courtois, is the ease he catches high balls where as lots of European keepers just fist it back into danger areas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

    Great run from Willian

It's only two games but you can see why he's happy. He's finally getting the kind of football he's been looking for and Chelsea are looking brilliant (albeit against mediocre opposition). Have to give credit to Jose in all this though, it does look like he's adapted his game to utilize the likes of Fabregas and Hazard to the best of their abilities. The stiffer tests for Chelsea are yet to come, but I really think a lot of the anti-Mourinho hipsters will be eating humble pie by the end of the season.

Ya, at 6'6 he uses his height and frame to make it easy. You cant knock him around and the confidence he gives to the defence must be applauded hes playing like a 10year veteran and that save from Nugent was quality out quick and kept himself big.

Cech isnt being missed but did we expect anything from one of Europes best gks in the last 2 years? Maybe a settling in period but even after a short pre season weve found our number 1 for a decade.

We were poor in the 1st half but we upped in considerably and like Burnley we created enough to get the job done in 15-20min period.

Its only 2 games in but those games last year are the ones we dropped points in stupidly. Costa is a huge addition and a poacher, what we really missed.

Costa looks like a real bargain so far given the money Chelsea paid.

If he keeps up his goal a game ratio we'll be sorted. :pac:

Great to get three points today from what looked like a potential disappointment given the first half. Now it's time to cheer on lukaku and see if he can turn over the gunners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    Goals so far this season.

    Costa 2
    Schurrle 1
    Hazard 1
    Ivanovic 1

Poor first half, great second half.

Courtois and Ivanovic the stand out performers, thought Willian was brilliant when he came on as well.

Ya I think Willian showed for a lot of the balls that Oscar and Schurrle were wasting.

Against Everton I'd be going with

    Courtois
    Ivan Cahill JT Azp
    Cesc Matic Ramires
    Hazard Costa Willian
