Ahh just to even things up a little - make it a fair contest. We are missing so many first teamers for and that's before we play Galatasary tomorrow.

We're already missing Ramires, thats a blow, I prefer him in CM than Cesc purely for his energy and when he combines with Matic we usually have a good pairing.

It also allows us to go 4-3-3 pretty easily with Cesc and Ramires flanking Matic.

Anyway, if ye've Wilshire back ye'll have a bit of bite in CM, maybe not the threat that Ramsey has but still a good player.

Ok I'll give you Ramires even though you never seem to really rate him. You still need to lose a regular defender and goal scorer to have some sort of parity.

I'm not a fan of Ramires really but for these games his ability to get around the pitch is important.

Well we could lost a CB or FB and we'd still be sorted by shuffling Ivan/Azp/Luis around.

Costa is one sprint away from being out for weeks but im happy with Remy as backup, more so than a Torres/Eto'o/Ba.

Our squad has only about 20 options but about 15 of them are pretty good.

Questions remain over Salah, Drogba and Mikel, the rest are pretty solid IMO.

Since when was Girioud a goal scorer?

Ramires is a big loss IMO. He's a good player to have in big games. But the injuries are definitely stacked against Arsenal.

I think Giroud scored more than any of your lot last season. If only he wasn't injured he'd at least be on a par with Costa now

I cant claim to know much about this current Sporting Lisbon team. I don't know if really we should definitely be beating them, but based on my limited knowledge of them (that they are consistently one of the top 3 in Portugal?) id say a point isn't a poor result tonight considering Portugal isn't a bad league at all, and Porto and Benfica often compete in the latter stages of the Champions League and the Europa League.

Though there are only 4-5 names I recognise in the Sporting squad: Rui Patricio, Diego Capel, William Carvalho, Nani, Freddy Montero.

I think we underestimated Schalke and id imagine Sporting are possibly at a similar level, so yeah, id take a point. Hope we don't get any injuries though, as the league is definitely the main priority at the moment.

Anyway, we can beat anyone in Europe if we go out and try, if we'v one eye on Sunday, which I expect we will, it could be a long night.

The way we went about the first half, I'd say the gameplan was to go two-up by half-time, pull Costa, defend and hit on the break. You could see Jose's frustration as the half progressed with all those misses. As things stand, we're going to have to keep digging until we get that two-goal cushion. So, yes, it could be a long second half.
