Hi I had my router changed recently by Eircom but now I notice a NAT error with my Xbox. I went through the support guide found through this page: http://community.eircom.net/t5/Broadband/Nat-problems/td-p/9743 and lowered the firewall but it made no difference. What do I do now?

They changed it from the silver Netopia one to a black D1000 because it was randomly cutting out and not connecting or functioning properly. This NAT issue never appeared whilst I had the silver one.

Sounds like you either need to activate uPnP (if available) or port forward your router. You shouldn't lower the firewall on your router.

Thanks for the response Zen. Eircoms tutorial video on gaming states to lower the firewall to 'low'. ( http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/images/videoTutorial/console_gaming/xbox_ps3_wii_1.html )

It would be nice if Eircom responded to this query. It has been 20hrs since I posted it and their response time stated 10hrs (now 12)

Hi door

Please follow the included two links below. The first link is more basic for configuring broadband with a console -  there is helpful advice on the second link about NAT type, unfortunately eircom don’t provide support to NAT type modifying or port forwarding but if the second link does not help I would advise searching online for further advice.

This is the link for NAT type:

hope this helps

Thanks for the response Al but you sent me to the Eircom links I had already posted in my above messages. I had checked this stuff out already. Unfortunately it seems nothing can be done from Eircom to help me if I have to figure out all this NAT type modifying stuff myself. So annoying that my previous silver Netopia router which I purchased in 2008 was replaced by Eircom with a D1000 as the silver one never caused this problem.

Hi door

Sorry to hear of the issues you are having with this, I've contacted technical support who have advised me that eircom will be unable to assist with Nat type changes but can advise a few things which has already been touched on in the links we posted above. Further to that I would recommend checking out a few videos about it on youtube and searching material online. I'm sorry I can’t offer a resolution door.

Thanks
Al
