The story broke when an online store (think it was ShopTo) listed it as coming soon to all three formats. Either way, my urge to buy it has passed. I'll pick up Tomb Raider and leave Sleeping Dogs for the Christmas sale.

Users on neogaf have stated that was a mistake by shop to and the rerelease is not coming to PC. Doesn't make any sense for the PC to get a hd remake when it already has the high resolution texture pack.

Picked up The Swapper earlier as well. Looks very intriguing...

Steam regional differences can be really annoying sometimes. Was think of getting Borderlands 2 for a friend - €7.49 here but $4.99 in the US. So even worse than the usual $1=€1 rate. Amazon.com will probably pricematch the $4.99 version, so if anyone else is thinking of buying it, I'd wait for that.

I really hate that too... It should be the same across the board..

Not sure Shane. But i think you do need to make an account with them to start

First on a whim purchase of the sales - Outlast for a fiver. Want to see if it's as scary as everyone says it is.

It's not. I was really disappointed by it, it tries so hard to scare but relies on cheap jump scares over atmospheric dread

Doesn't make sense alright. 4K texture pack then? :pac:

So to anyone who has played Sleeping Dogs, what DLC should one go for? I've been told some of it is more-or-less "pay to win" OPed buffs and such, which I'd prefer to avoid.

Best game for a scare for me is still Amnesia. Metro is good at scary coupled with gunplay. Outlast I found good and scary but it is, as Darko says, mostly jumpscares

by the way for anyone on the fence Natural Selection 2 is well worth the 85% off asking price in spite of a somewhat tough learning curve - it will take you quite a few rounds to get a grip on the feel of combat but once you do it's a lot of fun.

Picked up South Park stick of truth which was my main target for this sale. Just need to finish Shadow Warrior now so i can get stuck into it.

I have my eye on that too. Any chance it'll go cheaper, or is this as low as it will go?

Don't see it going cheaper considering that it's the second time it's been on sale at that price. If you want you can get it on any number of key sites for under 20.

Wow! I'm in shock here. I actually finished a game I got on the sale.

Ah well, loads more to go.

Have had my eye on Betrayer and Defy Gravity for awhile so figured that it was time to get both, especially considering that Defy Gravity is 19 cent. In this day and age 19 cent won't buy you a bag of those awful tasting cheap crisps we used to get but it will buy you a game.

Picked up Witcher 3 on steamtrades for 9 keys, which is about €15. Very good deal for a sure fire game of the year contender when its released next year.

Dead rising 3 can also be picked up for about the same.

That's a bargain for both, had I any TF keys then I'd jump on both

Metro: Last Light is one hell of a good game, downright pants-****tingly scary too, I'm too frightened to go back to it :pac:

I picked it up on Steam a few weeks back when it was on sale. Really enjoyed Metro 2033 and so far Last Light seems to be good, although haven't got the chance to play too much of it yet.

It's one of the few early access games that i'd recommend. Haven't played it in a while but it had a lot to do last time i played it and more has been added since. There's also a big modding community for it so you can always download those if you get bored of the base content.

Me too! Shelter and Ittle Dew off the list from last year. It's a weird feeling.

Still haven't bought anything. Holding out for Transistor. I'm going to have to buy something frivolous just to get in the sale mood!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

I've bought feck all, but Dragon Age might tempt me yet, but I'm waiting to see if anything of interest comes up in the next couple of flash sales as there's no rush getting it.

I just spent the entire night playing the batman origins multiplayer. Its like battlefield capture and hold between Bane's and the joker's men with 2 other players playing as batman and robin trying to kill both.

This made the price of the game worth it, I actually loved it!

It's not a game reeeeally and I don't see as ever being one. That's not to say it's not fun for a while but you need to appreciate it's a space sim, as close as they can make it. There was a mod that took a lot of the pain out of taking off/landing/intersecting astral bodies and so on but in many ways having that automated takes out a lot of the point of it but conversely if you don't use it you need to sit down and watch hours of tutorials before anything starts making even remote sense and then trying to do something more complex than getting a rocket into a stable orbit would be nigh on impossible imo..

It's worth some few quid but not what they're asking and the last time I played they only had the most rudimentary of gameplay elemtns outside of the sandbox environment.

It's a sandbox space sim and not overly arcade like so there's a lot you need to know about the basic physics involved in rocketry but you don't need to know much about engineering and air resistance, so it's definitely not pick up and play and most of the fun comes from it as a physics simulator. This means the game is either worth its cost at €5 to you or €25 depending on how interested you are in these topics. :)

It's Goat Simulator for intelligent people basically. ;)

I enjoyed tinkering with it for a week or two. Felt quite awesome to finally land on the mun, place my flag and have a look through space at Kerbal but a lot of that sense of achievement was tempered through using the autopilot mod and I know that I'd have never ever ever have put in the man hours and I imagine numerous failed attempts required to have flown it manually.

Each to their own obviously. I bought it during the last sale as a wildcard. I think at the time I bought it for $25ish and I would have been happier in retrospect if it was maybe half that. I think it's a bit pricey for what it is.

Yeah, I can appreciate that. Without mods it's a bit mad, I'd recommend everyone have at least a mod that shows deltaV for the various rocket stages in and out of atmosphere just to save you some work with a calculator. The autopilot mod is ok so long as you only use it to do things you've already done manually and even then landings should probably be manual (to make you earn them ;)).

I think most of the problem is that this is really a game for a very specialist audience that has gained perhaps a bit too much popularity and a lot of people are picking it up who really aren't simulation gamers and don't really want to put in loads of hours just learning how to play.

I think a good comparison would be some of the better military flight simulators. If you just want to fly around shooting down the enemy within a couple of minutes as someone new to flight sims, these are really the wrong games to buy despite being excellent games at what they do, because for most of them you actually do need to quite a lot about how to actually fly a plane and your hand isn't going to be held. Versus something like War Thunder where in Arcade mode you can throw around planes without needing to care about the laws of physics. :D

Only want to point out that I called it yesterday after the reset :pac:.

There's definitively some cheating going on in the background on point allocation so blue team your night is tomorrow and pink get your wish list in order oh and everyone will get two wins (5 teams, 10 days) by the looks of it.

Supposedly reddit has a schedule of who wins when so that people aren't wasting badges.

As there's no rush on making badges simply waiting until the following morning tends to have a clear winner already.

I couldn't stand not having bought anything so I bought The Wolf Among Us. Phew, that feels a lot better!

I also got a random summer card drop at 10am (before I bought TWAU). Anyone know what it would have been for?

Just bought my first Steam cards today so that I could craft a game badge and contribute to Pink's win. Only €0.41 so thought I'd give it a go. It's a very clever system that Steam has set up, making money off digital trades that they can control the supply of.

Wishlist is in order, so finger's crossed!

This card thing is addictive. I had a euro from selling cards, used it to buy cards to complete badges, then sold more cards, crafted more badges, bought some cards, all with the same money. I refuse to spend "non-card" money on them, which makes it even more challenging.

It's like winning €2 on a scratch card, using it to get another scratch card, winning a free scratch card, winning €4, buying two more cards, winning €2, buying another card...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭gazzamc

Ah Mass Effect collection.. Why you no sell DLC cheap EA???

I don't know whether to grab it or not.. And just get DLC from other sources :P

For anyone wondering you can't buy DLC directly and need to purchase bioware points.. It's about €150 for all DLC combined..
