Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Had a massive crush on a guy in school with auburn hair and hazel eyes. If I met him today the clothes would be off within seconds.

No need to insult gingers. They know what they are.

I think probably 'ginger' is the worst

We all secretly love red hair though

It's incredibly popular in north America. The wife is hoping I'll transmit some kind of latent ginger DNA to our eventual offspring. Im unable to get onside with that opinion

My mum is a red head, she used to be called "Carrot top" by one of her teachers!

I've heard "Duracell" as well back in the 80s, they used to have an ad: "The one with the copper top".

I used to work with a red haired lad, we used to slag each other all the time. One day I told him "Fúck off Ginger Pubes". He responded "Aaaah it's like a sausage hanging out of a fire". :D

Red hair is gorgeous though, even if my mum hated hers, she prayed during her pregnancies that her children wouldn't have it! :( I know two women with long curly red hair and they both look amazing!

In Australia, red heads get called 'rangers' (rhyming with clangers)

Took me a while to get what it meant......

I was in Japan a few years ago, and while sitting waiting in an airport I became aware of these two kids staring at me. I'd look up and catch their eye and they'd immediately look away.

Their mother very politely came up and apologised saying they had never seen someone with red hair before. I told her there was no need to apologise and it was all very civil, very polite and a bit of a laugh.

The irony is I hated my red hair when I was a kid, because it made me stand out, as I got older I grew to love it, because it made me stand out! When I worked in an Irish bar in Chicago I f$^king cleaned up in tips!

Plus, the added bonus is that I'm never mistaken for being English :D

I can only imagine how boring it must be to blonde or dark haired!

As for insults, I think I've heard them all - copper-top, duracell, carrot-top, ginger-minger etc

There was also the ginger baiting years of the comedy series "Game On"

I've never heard anything connecting red haired women and small tits until i read this thread. Judging by the knockers on red haired women that i know this would appear to be a myth

A total myth!! Did no one see Kate Winslet in Titanic?

What's with all the hate for red haired people? You people are cray cray!!

As a kid my hair was fairly reddish. My aul fella, never to miss an oportunity to have some fun (bollocks is his term of endearment, for example), called me 'rusty' until I was around 7.

I remember one day when I was around 16 or 17, I was taking the piss out of him in front of my mates for going bald, grey, or both, and he turned around in front of everyone and went, "Oi, ging-er, you're lucky we brought you home from the hospital."

Put me back in my box! :pac:

She's a fake redhead...dyes it that way. You'd be thinking of Isla Fisher, Amy Adams or Felicia Day being natural and beautiful though...

Got all the usual ones in primary school. Carrot top, fanta head, and the like; then when I got to Secondary, things got a little more creative. My favourites including bunsen burner head, and scaldy balls. :D

Given it is becoming decreasingly less acceptable to say 'the black sheep of the family', you are now hearing expressions more and more to replace it, the most popular of which is.. 'being treated like a red headed stepchild'

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

Wasn't the fact that they can't tan held against them as well? They have lower levels of melanin than a normal caucasian. That's why the burn up like lobsters when exposed unprotected to UVA rays for prolonged periods.

Most of the insults have already been said, we just used to call them gingers or reds. There wasn't really any serious red bullying going on in our school.

Replace ginger with black and the OP is banned. Strange world.
Damn right - black-haired people don't deserve such abuse.

I played rugby for a long time......

So, on reflection, the BEST 'ginger insult' I had levelled at me was for a few years in the early 80s when I (and probably every other young red-headed rugby player) was referred to as "Gerry" -
