Bird needs doctor

    Hey guys,

my cockatiel eats himself, plucks his feathers and gets quite naked around his belly now.... I long time hesitated to bring him to a vet, because it means stress and hands touching him (which he cant stand at all). I read up upon it and know its a behavioral disorder which loads of birds get, but I now wanna doublecheck with a doctor who knows the craic with birds... Most vets here in Galway are not specialized in birds unfortunately so I'm unsure what to do. Does anyone know a good vet in Galway (city) who regularly treats birds or is even specialized? (Cant find any on google)...

    Thanks for the help, Tanna

The best avian vet I've heard of is in Bray but ive never had to use her thank god. I will try find out about any closer to you. If its a behavioural thing, it it can be very hard to cure.
    How old is the bird?

Yeah she specialises in birds and other exotic animals. I think her website is vetrinary.ie She is very knowledgable and experienced. If you can't make it to bray she could recomend a local vet or consult with one maybe?

Heya, sorry for replying so late. Bray... I heard there is an avian vet alright... but this is quite a journey and I have no transport. Would mean I need to go by bus to Dublin and then Bray with Bart in his travel cage, he would go mad... But I'll gonna call Barbara and see what she reckons, cheers for that contact. Bart is around 2 years old now. (I actually have no birth date).
