Mr. E - Why are so many of the categories locked?

I only just noticed this forum and I have voted in the categories I could but since you have locked many other categories after only having them open for 5 days, I now cannot vote in them.

Can't you unlock them and allow anyone who wishes to vote to have the chance to? It seems strange that some categories (including some of the most important ones) have been locked already. Surely they should all be open until the same ending date to give as many people as possible time to vote. I can see some of the locked categories have less than 10 posts, surely too small a sample.

Also, you have not made it clear anywhere that I can see, when the voting ends for any or all of these categories.

I have to lock them to give focus to the 9 new categories. There are 32 in all, so leaving them all open will be too distracting. I guess I could unlock the first batch temporarily at the end, so keep an eye out for that.
