Hi there Ralf and Florian

Just to let you know I am alive and kicking and teaching English in Beijign China!! A somewhat unconventional one but one nonetheless!!

Left home cos things were going nowhere!! Cork is a very parochial place and they dont like new things so I got the message and left!!

Still singing and performing!! I have a band called social handgrenade and just last week performed on a beautiful stage here in Beijign with a punk pop band

As Im new here they wont let me post any limks!! I'm on youtube put in FionnBarra in Beijign and there I'll be

I think Cork is very open to new things and has a thriving and cosmopolitan music and arts scene.What was it that you were doing that Cork people found so out there?Were you biting off chickens heads as part of your act?

For it's size, Cork is an amazing city for music. I can't think of another town that has such a concentration of so many unbelievably innovative and talented musicians. It's one of the things I miss about home.

Busker's career doesn't take off - it must be the fault of the city and its people!

I'm looking forward to hearing his punk cover of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Doe a Deer!
That man is a genius. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for not spotting it and allowing him to leave!

We should act now before more talent leaves our city. Someone give the fella who sings what you might call "the man on the street opera" a record deal quick or before we know it he'll be packing his cane and heading for China to do operatic versions of The Langer Song!

I post in lots of different styles.
I usually only resort to sarcasm in response to particularly stupid posts like the one above and yours in the Witherspoons thread.

Address what? I post what I want, where I, want in the style I want, within the rules of Boards and the relevant fora. There is no rule regarding sarcasm. I do not answer to you. My post was on topic, unlike any of yours in this thread.

On the one hand, I say fair play to him for doing what he wants to do, working at it and having belief in himself.

On the other, it's a bit of a cop out to blame a city for your own failure to make it big. Calling Cork 'Parochial' is pretty hilarious, when you see the vibrant music, art, film and theatre scenes we have the moment. Culture has been one of the things that has really prospered in Cork in dark times recently.

That's the point.
I never would have slagged this guy off only for that ridiculous comment regarding Cork being parochial to blame for his lack of success.
If not for this, I'd have felt no need to point out the fact that his lack of success in more down to a lack of any originally or talent for putting songs together.

A shame Alter Of Plagues split up,they were on the verge of big things.Their last album got a rave review from the Needledrops guy,who rubbished Aphex Twin,Morrisseys and Kanye Wests latest albums so he dosen't hand out praise lightly.
