Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    You never know with FIFA

As far as I know all the refs are paid by FIFA for this tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Rezident

If that was a penalty, Qatar and Russia won the rights to host the world cup fair and square.

Brazil have no right to ever protest anything ever again after that.

Every World Cup there are some sh1te decisions. What a terrible referee

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭DildoFaggins

Matches like this makes it without doubt in mind that the refs are basically told to favor bigger teams, happens in Footy so much its a joke.

shocking decision , ref since half time been giving brazil loads soft frees , musta had a visitor at halftime;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭Reedsie

Decisions like that really do take the shine off the match.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

As weak a penalty decision I've ever seen but the ref has been a bit of a homer throughout the game. Still though, huge credit to Neymar, he's held his nerve, his World Cup has begun in the way he, and the nation of Brazil, would have dreamed.

Neymar is lucky to be on the pitch and hes scored 2 goals.

Not a penalty, but I'll take it. Huge, huge pressure on that kid for the kick and some power on that kick to force it in.

They would be the only FIFA employees NOT on the take if they weren't.

Ref just doesn't seem to have the bottle to give big decisions that the crowd will disagree with, very harsh on Croatia

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

My mate said after 20 mins that this ref looked like a complete homer. Must be fancying a good night out in Sao Paulo tonight.

Brazil have shown nothing in this game to suggest they're likely to win this tournament, other than the Refs doling out bad decisions in their favour.

Croatias keeper was poor for both goals

With a BS penalty that was nearly saved?

That ref has had some serious bad decisions.

    Genuine incompetency rather than corruption.

Correct decision was a yellow for Fred.

Shame, hard to enjoy watching a cheat prosper.

Didn't Fellaini get a ban for all the elbowing he did? ofc the golden boy cannot get a red he's a young innocent boy, Croatia would never have got the peno if it was them and Modric would be off if he elbowed the little "golden" boy Neymar.
    JOKE

This Brazil team will not be winning the world cup. They'll get steam rolled by the big guns.

They will go far though if they keep getting refs like this plonker !!

He didn't cheat to win the penalty and he didn't give the awful decision to award the penalty. He simply converted the golden opportunity.

The Croatian players should go up to the Brazil box and dive. Thats 10 penaltys.

    What a joke. Disgusted.

Football has always been corrupt under FIFA, sure didn't mussolini ensure the refs let italy win in 1934. Same principle tonight. It's FIFA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Oscars been motm neymar will get it though.

Kinda ruined a good game that decision.

Football when organised directly by FIFA at world level is a a fúcking farce from top to bottom, this game has been a disgrace as far as refereeing goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

A flukey own goal, a penalty that wasn't a penalty, I suppose the scoreline should really be 1-0 to Brazil.

Sure but we see this all the time had modric elbowed Neymar would he have been sent off? you bet, had Silva fouled Jelavic in the box would it be a penalty? Nope

I've never been so bored and unimpressed by a Brazil team in my life... The inclusion of Fred sums up that. The guy is a brutal player. Seeing the way they're going to win this match leaves a pour enough taste. I like their players but they're not a Brazil team you'd expect. F*ck it I'd love to see Ronaldinho and Kaka in this squad for a bit of entertainment.

Oscar has been very good tonight. To think there was people moaning that Coutinho should have gotten in the squad before him based on a bad few months at Chelsea.

Sepp blatter will come out tomorrow and say the controversy is good for the game. He will believe it too.
