Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm in no doubt that Herrera will be a Manchester United player next season but I'm just worried that this turns into a summer-long saga meaning Herrera gets no pre-season with us. This could ramp up the pressure on him as he may end up coming in cold to league games ala Fellaini. Also, I'm not sure how well Woodward will be able to juggle other transfer dealings if this keeps dragging on.

    United for the same period:

    68m spent 1m recouped
    63m spent 11.9m recouped
    53m spent 15m recouped

All those players you listed will either go onto either feature in the team or be sold at a profit. One or two possibly may be sold at a loss.

Chelsea's net spend is about 30m more or so in the same period, yet I think Chelsea's squad was in a far healthier position last year.

This was too long ago to really get back into, I just want to clear one thing up

You simply cannot even make up a figure of 30million net spend over 3 years where your net spend was

    2011/12 - 63.2m
    2012/13 - 72m
    2013/14 - 53.059m

I am sure if you add those three figures you will come up with more then £30m

We'll have to sign more Spanish players to counteract this problem.

Yea he does. With so many squad numbers vacant who do we reckon will get what? I reckon Van Persie will take 9 and Adnan will get 11. Not sure about the others. Will Evra keep 3 or will he be moved for Shaw(if he does sign)?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,241 ✭✭✭Vic Vinegar

Shaw, another CM and a winger and I'd be happy. Especially if we move on the deadwood.

    No CB required, you reckon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,641 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

You say he can speak English, any video to back it up?

Im just wondering thats all. De Gea will of course help him out but im just curious all the same

Delighted both with the signing, and for the more hysterical lads here. You know who you are ;)

    Enjoy!

Yes, it had to be that big.

Edit: Oh and well done Mr Woodward. Came through in speedy fashion and kept it quiet as long as possible

United's net spend in that period was around £167m
    Chelsea's was about £185m

Difference in net spend is £18m, so less than I quoted, so thanks for pointing it out.

EDIT: Think you misread my post, I didn't say Chelsea's net spend was 30m I said it was about 30m more than United's. It was in fact less, only about 18m.

So that begs the question, would people be happy if this was our only transfer activity?

    A team of...

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Shaw
    Herrera - Fellaini
    Mata
Rooney - Van Persie - Januzaj

Looks good on paper and is good enough for top 4 in my opinion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

The shame of it. I'm a foolish fool.
Don't do it to yourself Mitch, you know this transfer is not going to happen now.

Back 4 is far too weak to challenge for top 4 like that. CM offers absolutely no cover either.

Any formation with all three of RVP, Rooney and Mata seems like a big compromise, I don't know if they all will fit in

I don't have any video. I've seen it around in a few places. He apparently tweeted Rio a while back

    ..................DDG..............
    Raf...Smalling...Evans...Shaw
    ..........Ander......Carrick.......
    Mata.........Rooney........Januzaj

We have some of the same problems we had last season, little to no pace, Mata shunted out on the wing, and Rooney tasked at creating chances for others

I've a feeling Van Gaal will want to add a couple of others with him. I'd be over the moon with two or three of Depay, Strootman and Martins Indi.

Think there's definitely a couple left to be done though.

    Net (£)

Dont think Carrick will be a starter next season. Also I think he will play Mata or Kawaga in the middle. A winger with pace is required. One of Sanchez, Di Maria or Depay would fill the gap on pace

Rooneys future is in midfield imo for both club and country . Simply too much accommodating has to happen when he plays for england or united . And with england losing Gerrard it might be the only position hell get a game .

I been grinning like a school kid all day due to happenings elsewhere but to get Herrera in the bag and with it looking like Shaw is in the bag too, this could be the best summer from a United pov in a long long time.
