Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Consistency in refereeing is dead. Last night that incident but less contact was a foul on Cesar, tonight it's no foul on Casillas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Same as last night it was a foul on the keeper. Tough on Spain there in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Free or not, Casillas was utterly woeful there. Why he's still first choice for Spain is just insane.

No different to the Olic incident last night.

Well Olic headed the ball last night, van Persie was no where near it.

Can players not jump up and challenge for the ball with keepers anymore ?

Ball was gone over Cassillas' head when they collided, 50/50 for me, even though refs usually give it to the keeper

    Good call by the linesman.

Good call from the linesman. That's right. I'm praising him.

Except RVP made way more contact with the keeper and didnt even touch the ball.

    The officiating is a joke.

Video replay is a must. Every other sport has it but the richest in the world doesnt?

That's a foul on the keeper isn't it.

I agree to an extent, but as we saw last night Croatia had a goal disallowed for a similar incident. Iker was nowhere near it and RVP challenged for the ball

Not sure if people hate the Spanish here or is it the utd love in off their new boss and van Persie.

Can players not jump up and challenge for the ball with keepers anymore ?

They can, long as they dont make contact with the keeper, interrupting his movement. They are more protected but if you make contact before you get the ball its a free.

I suppose when you're that far offside, they can't really rob the opposition. But then with FIFA you never know.

funny was on about his tactical approach, especially in the 1st half.

Lads this is fantastic. Chile could eliminate Spain.or better yet Spain could end up facing Brazil.

Though they look awful at times.

I knew Spain would pay for not bringing Navas to the World Cup but never thought it'd be this quick.

But the ball was past the keeper by the time they challenged.

Could be 5 or 6 here for the Dutch.

Personally don't think either were fouls, both player and goalie should have a right to go for the ball in those situations.

Exactly. I saw no foul there. Two players jumping for the ball is all. Keeper missed it by a mile
