Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If Ireland were there RTE would be doing the same. They are English channels you know!!

I'd be equally annoyed in fairness. It's been a great game I enjoy the half time analysis :)

The BBC in unanimous agreement that it was a penalty, their reasoning is flawless as well. It's twats like these that keep diving going.

Imagine if Italy get a similar penalty against England tomorrow night!.There would be uproar.

He had already put his left foot down, then put it
up in the air again as the Dutch player slid in and planted it down.

    Very clever.

Id imagine Van Gaal's approach is giving a few Utd fans a bit of concern.

Did anyone else notice that the Dutch jerseys are numbered in an old-school 1-11?

    None? Really?
Find one quote that called the Dutch cheating for their fouling.

A mixture of all that is good and bad in football. Crafty play from Costa to win a peno, and a beautiful goal from RVP. Should nearly award two goals for something that special.

    2 for a header? :-)

I'm sure Thierry Henry will be up in arms alright

Why is there so much dislike towards the Spanish in here?
Lots of cries of cheating, but none of it directed towards the Dutch for repeated bad fouling (a form of cheating)?

Is it really bad fouling? No one has been hurt. If Spain stopped rolling around like they are trying to put out imaginary fires everutime someone looks at them we could gauge the severity of the tackles a bit better.

Surprised how many empty seats there seem to be for one of the top matches of the group stages.

People hate deceit more, pretty simply.

I don't think it was a dive myself. He put his foot down to get his balance onto a moving Dutch leg. How was he supposed to keep his balance.

I have watched it 3 times now. To sugest he was sticking his foot towards the defenders leg as he's going down just to gain balance. Good god

No such a thing as light drizzle in brazil is there

Locals can't afford them I suppose is a factor.

So not hurt = not a bad foul?
I don't like the way some of the player roll around unnecessarily either. But the Dutch could easily have another 2 or 3 cards.

Professional cheating of the highest order. Wasn't to bothered about who won this, but after that I was rooting for the Dutch.

Hard to root for the Dutch with their style of tackles in the first half anyway.

    Rte commentary is psychic.

It's refreshing to see Spain with a striker but Costa looks like he needs to lose a few pounds. Not 100% fit anyway, that's for sure.

Well it was quiet brilliant if he can time where he puts his foot like that at that speed.

People dislike Spain because they have become too familiar with them. Familiarity breeds contempt.

You might. That isn't the view of all nations in the World. Thinking otherwise is just being too simple.

he is so uncomfortable its untrue - you can tell he has no real interest and that it's just a case of it being a job for him.

Says a whole lot about RTE operates.

Boom! Now watch every team punt a long ball high between the Spain CB's now.

    Robben's first touch was great.

    2-1Holland - Robben's Redemption!

Exactly the same as the first goal , too big a gap between the centre backs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭McGrath5

Great finish, this Dutch can really play when they want to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

Spain will need to be given another penalty or need a dodgy sending off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

That's another quality goal. Thought he'd get blocked when he pushed it left for the shot but fair play.
