Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cahill has always been so clinical in the air for a relatively small player

Tim Cahill! We have a game

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Disadvantage of a 5 ft 7 centre half - You're screwed from crosses, especially against Tim Cahill.

    Lovely goal from Tim

Surprised at Medel playing at CB! He's only 5'7.. Must be the smallest CB in the tournament :pac:

Knew that would bite them in the backside!

    Game needed that!

Not surprised it was Cahill to score for Australia, and nearly a second there.

14 goals in 3 and a bit games so far.

    Long may it continue!

    Classic Cahill

  • This has to be the most goals in the first 4 match's of the WC in a long time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 370 ✭✭MaxFlower

Lovely foul on the defender too.

That is why playing Gary Medel at centre back is a really, really bad idea.

    incredibly open game

Not sure in other actual Aussies in this thread (born in Mackay QLD, here since 11 years old) but can I just say. TIIIIMMMYYYY CAAAAHHHIIILLL.

Aussie wingers are very quick. Expect more speed down the flanks and trust in Cahill's forehead.

He's had numerous very good games at CB for Chile. Cahill is one of the best for winning headers.

The spray almost certainly has no "magical" qualities.

    "One from the training ground"

Because they dont practise shooting from free kicks in training...

    70% Ball Possession 30%
    3 Goal Attempts 5
    2 Shots on Goal 2
    1 Shots off Goal 3

Its anyone's but someone needs to win cos the earlier result throws this group wide open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Best half of football we've seen yet, both teams prepared to go at the other and both playing some great stuff. Still think Chile should come out winners here, with the tempo they're playing at, I wonder will Aussie legs tire in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,936 ✭✭✭kksaints

Chile dropped their tempo a fair bit after 20 minutes in that half. Ref isnt doing the Aussies any favours.

It actually cures AIDS but FIFA would rather use it to mark 10 yards, the bastards

Would love to see Australia win this but for the sake of kicking Spain out in the group stages (tired of the Spanish dominance in the last few cups), I'd like Holland and Chile to be picking up as many points as possible.

There's another here :) I was on the phone to Mum in melbourne when Cahill scored the first goal and almost blew her eardrum out with my squeal  Then I started to provide a running commentary when we almost scored the second...she wasn't very impressed with me :pac:

I like how in football anything that wasn't the norm in 1966 inevitably takes on magical properties and is viewed with scepticism.

Aw man, I'm fading fast here. Up since 6:30am...not sure whether I can stay awake for the 2nd half.

Maybe if I open another beer? Then I risk potential beer wastage, and no-one wants that.

Don't do it! You will either pour the rest of it down the sink or make some feeble attempt to preserve it with cling-film.

    Speaking from experience :pac::pac::pac:

    Cahill unlucky there.

Australia are a one man team if I ever seen one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Come on, lets all give credit to the officials for that one. I doubt their national league is a "top league" either.

In other news. This is the greatest World Cup of all time.
