Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

England to sit back and hope to hit them on the counter so can see why he went with Sterling instead of Lallana.

Interesting that Roy has gone with Sterling.

Surely Johnson in defence is a weak link?

I know people have been saying it for the last few major competitions, but that Italian team looks the weakest yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,564 ✭✭✭✭whiskeyman

Lambert to come on for rooney who'll have a stinker...and score!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Italian team seems weak Have heard only 4 or 5 of those names before.
Johnson is a big weak link. Will Rooney or Wellbeck be offering him support?

England team seems weak, only heard of a few of those players...

Rooney is not a very good #10. Play him as #9 and he'll be way more useful.

Stream requests are against the charter and site rules in general folks, if you're in Ireland or the UK you can use the RTE player and the BBC i-Player respectively, everything else is out of bounds.

Italy to win 1-0 in a poor enough game I reckon. Hopefully it'll be a cracker though, with someone wining 4-3.

Hard to see England having much possession, Balotelli should be up for it too.

    C'mon England

Why are people saying the Italy team is poor, just because everyone knows the English players doesn't make them better. Chiellini is a top class CB, Pirlo is one of the best MF in the world. Veratti saw him play for PSG fantastic player great passer, De Rossi is a solid player, super Mario while he is erratic and mental at times on his night he can be a real world class striker and on his game can tear that English defence apart especially with Pirlo and Verrati supplying him. 2-1 Italy for me.

    It'll be a tight game but I fancy England to win 2 - 1

Im going against the grain and say this will be a thriller. I just have that feeling.

3 1 england i have no idea why i feel this but i just do

  • Registered Users Posts: 340 ✭✭Johnnythefox4

What exactly has Danny Welbeck done to deserve a starting spot?

Think this is going to be a dull 0-0. Italy will have loads of the ball but won't created many chances, while England will do a pile of running around and give the ball away a lot. Kinda dissapointed that Ciro Immobile isn't playing

    I agree

England to get an early goal, first 10 mins, and then it will be a thriller.

    Final score will be 1-1

He's been excellent under Roy for England.

If I was England I'd go all out to win now after the Uruguay result.

Mon England. A Liverpool inspired 5-1 like the Germany one will do :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭McGrath5

I think England are going to struggle here, a draw would be a fantastic result for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Washington Irving

    1-1 or 2-1 Italy.

yeah I can see Sterling running amock now.

Sterling in to cover Johnson defensively is probably a good call.

What odds Balotelli getting a red?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Hard to know what England and Italy are thinking, other than "whadafuq?"

A win would feel like a foot into the next round even though its not really the case.

More pressure on both sides now after that Uruguay defeat. Neither will want to lose.

Want England to get out of group but want Italy to win tonight.

Hopefully Pirlo puts on another masterclass tonight.

    Nooooo

Johnson is a disaster waiting to happen.

Insigne could run rings around him if he's brought on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,312 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

2 traditional big teams but not great sides. I reckon a 1-1 draw, but I'd really love to see Italy stuff them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Lennonist

Italy historically win big tournament games v England, I think Italy will win.

    C'mon on England!

The World Cup is no fun when the English have realistic expectations. A win tonight would sort that out.
