Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't think water breaks would've done this game any harm to be honest, players look destroyed now.

    That's unreal from Pirlo!!

You could put Pirlo on the pitch alone against some teams abd he'd probably win

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭Dapics

I'm an Arsenal fan and i'l tell you Wilshere deserve to be in the squad.

Overrated by most Arsenal fans and overhyped by the english press.

Pirlo should be made turn his cheat codes off.

Ridiculous strike of a ball. Deserved a goal.

He will go down as one of the best CM to play the game

So so cool. If I could be a player it would be him.

And what an attempt with that free kick

I disagree. Maybe to the untrained eye they were. ;) To appreciate Italy it takes an acquired taste.

Pirlo is different class. Rooney couldn't even take a corner. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Rooney and Gerrard the weak links in the England team.

More stylistically than quality wise tonight.

The other 3 forwards had well definied roles and did them well. Rooney kinda flittered in and out.

Having a slow CM behind an incredibly dynamic attack doesn't really fit - Wilshere would work, but just him and Hendo in midfield just doesn't have the steel - they'd need a Busquets or a young Xabi Alonso to knit it together.

Can't wait to see him use that pace for Dortmund :D

If that free kick went in, Hart would have set a record for distance a keeper has misjudged a shot.

Juninho would have approved of that free kick.

Good win for Italy. Exciting game but petered out a bit towards the end

Huge huge games now in the 2nd round of this group. Can Costa Rica pull off another performance? Who of Uruguay and England will stay in the race?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,406 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

    He messed up the subs

Sterling was gone after 60 and Henderson would run for 180 minutes.

Yeah he messed up the subs, but don't believe there's anything on the bench to improve their starting setup.

I think they can still get out of the group.

    Must win for both sides.

Very good result for Italy. One of England's better performances and on another night, they share the spoils.

Pirlo on a different planet to Englands Midfield

It was a great game, a thriller. They got tired at the end but overall a very exciting game.
I dont think England need to be any way ashamed, it was a very good performance by them

You just dont want to be needing to score a goal against the Italians. Absolute masters of closing it out.

    I love Pirlo.

Italy played the smarter game I feel. But England not discredited. Enjoyed it.

Pirlo is a joy to watch. When his beard is white and long he could still probably stand in the middle pinging balls around.

Italy and Costa Rica to make it out of the group, England and Uruguay going home early...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Very good game, anyone slating any of the players tonight doesn't really have a clue. It was generally a high quality performance from both teams. The margins separating both teams here were incredibly fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Fair play to Italy - they know how to win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

All the Pirlo hyperbole is fully justified.

Wonderful, wonderful player and one of the most entertaining to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Despite the goals not flying in as much as in some of the other games that was a very high quality match.

England have every chance of mangling that Uruguay side, whether or not Suarez is fit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 369 ✭✭microsim

Liam brady before the match: 'Balotelli is too unpredictable, Pirlo is too old and England's young guns should do Italy'. Good lad Liam, I know you're the Italian expert and all...

All I'm seeing is a bunch of overpaid ***** including that fat waster Rooney. Italy taught them a footballing lesson.

Bring on Uruaguay and hopefully Suarez will do them.

I can see Rooney losing his cool in future matches, perhaps when Costa Rica humiliate them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,570 ✭✭✭Ulysses Gaze

England's attack will terrorise the Uruguyan defence.

Still fancy them to get out of the group.

Italy deserved the victory but was impressed with some of the England players. Hodgson needs to drop a couple of the passengers from the team and I reckon they should get results in the next two matches.
