Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No, but sometimes the attack is so good there's nothing the defence can do, other times the defending is so poor it warrants comment. Crazy stuff.

I agree, but I just find with every goal (not the one we just saw) people post here about how bad the defending is and ignore how good the attack was.

Many co-commentators just say what you have seen yourself.

Also, Ray Houghton is master of saying what a player shouldn't have done.

Jesus...don't get me started on Houghton. Don't mind Kerr too much, as long as he keeps himself to himself, but he has a talent for stating the obvious, as well as having a voice for a library.
Worst thing a commentator can do is be a spoofologist, and Kerr falls into that category too much.....better to say nothing sometimes rather than just refer to random fellas as being 'a quality player'.

    Clark Carlisle, what an idiot.

    Sloppy from Switzerland

I'm sure Clarke Carlisle thinks Sloppy plays for Ecuador.....

Quite disappointed with the Swiss so far. Expected a bit more from some of there well regarded players. Drmic especially.

I think the Swiss are very unlucky to be one down. There was clearly a foul on a defender who was held down as that ball came in for the goal. It should have been a free against Ecuador.

I think Dominguez looks very dodgy and I'm expecting to see somebody get on the end of one of his drops at some stage.

I'm watching this second half with a lot of interest to see if either teams tire. I've seen every game so far and its looking more like a South American or African winner for me due to the European teams tiring late in games.

Mehmedi on for Switzerland. Stocker off.

Shockingly poor attendance for this match.

Ecuador not too far to travel yet Irish fans fill every stadium from USA toJapan. Pity we're not there.

And again, that was coming. Switzerland much better after the Ecuador goal and deserved that equalizer. Go on and win it now.

The Ecuador defender would want to have a word with himself. Pathetic challenge.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Irish football needs to be less white if the Swiss are an example of upping ones game with immigrants.

Hard to believe that Switzerland are seeded for this tournament.

Shocking indictment of the Fifa rankings.

Shaqiri slowing the game down too much.

    Drmic offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,375 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

    Bad decision there. Not offside.

Just noticed that my Swiss to win bet on paddy power never registered because of their sh*te servers. I'll be cheering for Ecuador now then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Shaqiri much more dangerous as the No 10. He was wasted on the right wing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,375 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Let Rodriguez hit this one. Big chance here.

Why does he not take freekicks for them? So dumb. He's not even involved in any of them.

Fair play to brian Kerr. He travelled over 1600km since 10pm last night to meet up with Jon Kenny in Brasilia to commentate on this match.

I've spent the last 80 mins wondering why Brian Kerr Keeps calling Peter Collins 'John'...

I've been disappointed that he spent so much time hugging the white line myself, with Liverpool heavily linked at the moment I doubt Rodgers will be thinking about him as a winger.

    Djourou lucky there.

Some of the official's calls have been horrible so far, and the tournament is only 4 days old.

How is Behrami starting in a game at the World Cup? I can't get over how entirely out of place he looks in central midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,313 ✭✭✭munster87

shows how far Italian football has fallen if he's playing for one of the top sides.

We knew we'd get a awful game between these two. This group won't have a lot of great football sadly. how the Swiss are seeded shows that the fifa rankings need sorting out.

These two teams are absolute muck without the yakin brothers and Frei, Switzerland not pooking like they are up to much....

This. Xhaka should have started alongside Inler with Shaqiri in front of them. Put Mehmedi and Stocker or Barnetta on the flanks.

No disrespect to Switzerland they have some good players but I fail to see how they are ranked 6th in the world, did they play mediocre teams to bump up the stats? Surely Italy, Belgium, France, Holland etc are a better team. That's what I don't like about the rankings sometimes, depends on who you pick in your friendlies, more points beating a team ranked 20-50 than there is drawing with a team from top ten, it seems.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

    First really dull game imo.
