Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hiztfeld doesn't help - stolid but nothing more. Trouble is its served them really well so there'll be no chance of a change.

Hilarious! 2-1 with the last kick of the game.

Shaqiri needs to get out of Bayern and get first team football. He's been very rusty.

    Great goal Seferovic. Wonderful cross.

Wow what a finish to the game.

Not a great game but that finish was brilliant, from going so close to winning to losing in the space of 60 seconds

Even the poorest game of this tournament has a big ending to it. Great WC so far

Ha just after I said it...Behrami makes a goal saving tackle and starts a move that ends in a goal for Switzerland!

No disrespect to Switzerland they have some good players but I fail to see how they are ranked 6th in the world, did they play mediocre teams to bump up the stats? Surely Italy, Belgium, France, Holland etc are a better team. That's what I don't like about the rankings sometimes, depends on who you pick in your friendlies, more points beating a team ranked 20-50 than there is drawing with a team from top ten, it seems.

They won a easy group and beaten spain and Brazil in friendlies, so I think the fact they haven't lost either.

They just scored but I'm not impressed at all with the Swiss.

Good call from the ref there, keeping play going, and ... blam!

    Ouch for Ecuador.

    What an ending!

I take back what I said about dull :D
Also put a tenner on Switzerland after they conceded.

Brilliant tackle, but he really should have shot.

Ecuador could easily have won it themselves there. Good refereeing to let the Swiss have the advantage.

    wow wasn't expecting that

Gotta give props to the ref there. Brilliant advantage given

Super sub does it at the death for the Swiss. They deserved it too imo. Von Bergen was hugely impressive. Shaqiri and Inler have to improve on their performances in that game and you'd expect them to. Djourou had an excellent game too.

Agree that the referee was excellent, not just there with the advantage but all the way through apart from the missed foul where Ecuador scored.

Was not expecting that at all!

Just came on to say that. Brilliant advantage, I'd say the majority of refs would have blown in that situation.

    Cracking build-up and finish.

Dramatic ending to a poor game.

Well done ref. That kind of finish is what I love about the World Cup.

Great goal, really good work by Behrami from the tackle to the pass.

Shockingly poor attendance for this match.

Ecuador not too far to travel yet Irish fans fill every stadium from USA toJapan. Pity we're not there.

Ach rubbish. Quito to Brasilia is like Dublin to Cairo. For a group match. Against Switzerland. In the most boring city in Brazil. On an average income of €4,000.

    Real shame on them...

That pretty much sums up how entertaining the tournament has been so far. Still a decent game IMO.

Schoolboy defending there by the CB, allowing his man to get in front of him at the near post. Combine that with the lack of a challenge for the equalizing goal, and the Ecuadorians will be gutted. That sort of thing must drive a manager mental. If you get done by a world class strike, fair enough. There's not a lot you can do about it. But both Swiss goals were gifts really.

On the replay, I'm wondering whether the striker was marginally offside before he scored that last goal. Considering that the Swiss had a goal disallowed by an incorrect offside call, I don't have a problem with that.

true, three goals and a last minute goal, far better then a drab 0-0.

Great start so far and pisses over the South Africa World cup

According to the UTV team, the goal rate so far is over double what it was in South Africa. 31 goals after 9 matches this year, vs. 15 goals four years ago.

Chiles just said there have been 31 goals so far, in South Africa 2010 there had only been 15 at this stage. This WC has already provided more entertainment than WC 2010 and Euro 2012 combined (Irish fan sucking Croatian boobs aside).

UTV's coverage is the televisual equivalent of shifting uncomfortably in your chair.

    It's not rubbish.

This is the World Cup ffs

Fair enough it's far away but 16 million people in Ecuador and an awful lot of them earn more than €4k a year.

Mourinho is probably sitting at home bah humbugging every goal.

Its far too open. The first round of games are supposed to be cagey, the 2nd game is where its all happens and then tight 3rd match day as the teams with the most points attempt a shut-out.

I'm no Mourinho fan, but that made exactly 0 sense.

Watching this match yesterday, it looked like a very small attendance for a World Cup, with seemingly loads of empty seats. But, officially by FIFA, it was the biggest attendance so far in the World Cup. 68,300 out 69,300. That would be the equivalent of about a hundred empty seats spread out around Turner's Cross or Tallaght, which would hardly be noticeable. The empty seats were certainly noticeable at this one.
