Hey, so yesterday I installed new mobo + cpu.
Installed fresh OS (Win 8.1) on it.
It worked fine for 24 hours (no turning off), all good - games run, things work.

Today I noticed if some kind of flash ads open system just hangs and cursor freezes, sometimes BSOD occurs.

    Here is the log:
    WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception
    Arg2: ffffe00002471028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure.
    Arg3: 00000000b0800000, High order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
    Arg4: 0000000000040151, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.

I disabled flash hardware accel. and will keep a lookout if that helps but any other ideas as to why this could happen?

Again: Games, 3D software, heavy tasks are handled well, the PC doesn't crash if I just use it but once I use Chrome and by accident open some site which has flash ads it crashes (or at least I didn't get BSOD from just using PC yet).

    Any thoughts?

The temperatures are fine, CPU is not overclocked and BIOS settings are default.

I also realized I need new HDD, even with new system the old HDD read/write speeds are only average of 7.5 Mb/s.

    Specs:
    OS: Windows 8.1 (x64),
    CPU: AMD FX-8350 (4.0 Ghz),
    Mobo: ASUS M5A97 R2.0,
    HDD: TOSHIBA MK5075GSX (2.5"),
    RAM: 8 GB (2x4GB),
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX560 SE

P.S - Youtube videos play fine and doesn't crash.

    Any thoughts?

This error is very similar to what you are experiencing: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/de-DE/d196aead-36e0-459c-8559-9e07c457ece6/help-with-wheauncorrectableerror?forum=w8itprogeneral

There you will find a list of troubleshooting steps you should take. Ultimately it seems it could be a problem with your CPU L2Cache. They suggest that you look for the latest version of your boards BIOS, yet you may have to replace the CPU; but go through the other steps first. Best of luck.

That's weird, the CPU is like 2 days old.

I don't know for certain if it is, but it could be a dud. Happens.

Well Prime95 has been running now at full, the fans are working, resource monitor shows usage 99-100% of each of 8 cores and everything still works fine.

Will leave it running for an hour or so.

This guy here had a similar problem report as you have.
I clocked my 1866mhz sniper ram down to 1600 and set timings to auto
and it seemed to work. If you can do the same give it a go. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=272808

Yeah but his stress test failed he said, mine still runs, I browse Net, running game installation and watching movie and not a single problem.

Also side note: whenever it was crashing - I was running TestDisk (my external HDD lost partition out of sudden so I am trying to recover files).

I have had issues with flash in the past. It would freeze up and stutter whilst playing Youtube vids. I couldn't get it to behave so eventually I did a system restore to a point before I had any issue and it fixed the issue. I don't know if this will help you but I would give it a go. Another thing you could look at is if it happens in any other browser that Chrome. You could look at add-ons that have been installed and disable them. I don't really have anything else to suggest. Best of luck.

Running 64bit I assume? Try the new chrome canary 64 channel release, they were toting better stability.

Also run a few hours belnd test with prime95 to make sure the chip/memory are good.

I am not sure what I clicked when it started up, it just offered me some test and I clicked ok, it opened 9 windows (Worker 1, Worker 2 etc..) and Main Thread.

Some of windows show 8k passed and some show 12k passed. Temperatures are good too. Is that blend test?

Stopped the test, yeah it was blend test, I ran it for an hour and 3 minutes and then stopped, 0 warnings 0 errors, so would it mean it's not CPU or MEM?

It would seem to indicate the CPU and RAM are stable. People usually run the tests overnight at the clock speed they want. You should still see if you can replicate the problem with different browsers. The next thing you need to do is get the latest motherboard drivers for your hardware from the manufactures site. Make sure you have the latest BIOS for that board, so if you don't update it. Run all basic hard drive tests with SeaTools. You should also test the RAM in your system. You can use one of the programs listed here. Check your temps carefully and ensure the CPU heat sink is sturdy and has sufficient airflow.

I did MemTest (no errors came up) and updated bios.
Will see how it goes on now, also I am getting new HDD so I guess it's gonna be another fresh OS install, this old drive just pisses me off now.

Any places in Dublin have walk-in stores and sell Hard Drives? (Internal or can be cheap External).

    What's better option:
120 GB SSD for OS and few games and use my old ****ty drive as secondary for other games?
    or
1 TB Normal HDD for OS and games + use my old ****ty drive as secondary for random stuff?
