Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Idiotic thing to do by Pogba.

Palacios should be off for his tackle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

The Honduran should get a card too. They're a dirty team all round and the tone from the ref needs to be set now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

Palacios stamping all over him, then pogba missed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭DildoFaggins

Refs don't have the bottle to send him off.

    Scumbaggery by Palacios there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Washington Irving

Pogba lucky to still be on. Can see why he reacted like that though

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

To be fair, what Palacios did was far far worse than the little reaction by Pogba. Poor challenge followed by another kick, followed by a bit of a stamp. Silly by Pogba all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

    Shouldve been 2 reds

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

To be fair to Pogba, Palacios stood on him at least three times there.

Get off that stretcher you clown

    Polacios should be off

    The blue on their flag

Yeah, I don't think it needs to be exactly like that though...A good strong dark blue/navy-ish colour works.

Refs don't have the bottle to send him off.

you make it sound like a red could have been completely deserved...Palacios was much worse of the two.

    Lucky.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

    Palacios is a proper....

Pogba shouldn't have reacted to it.

I hope Honduras get destroyed now. Just blatantly nasty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

I think the call was ok, Palcios made a meal of it, not much in it and Palocios did stamp on Pogbas leg. Palcios was looking to get Pogba sent off, would have ruined the match.

Another poor, big decision by an official. The list grows longer by the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Ref was right there. Common sense not to send him off. I've lost loads of respect for Wilson Palacios over the last half hour.

think it would have been worse to have sent off Pogba to be honest.

Over the last half hour? He's been a hatchet man his whole career.

Should have been red for the Honduras player. Stood on Pogba at least twice!

Pogba lucky not to get red from referees point of view. He was unsigted for initial incidents. But clearly saw kick out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

That was sly and nasty by Palacios, but Pogba shouldn't have reacted the way he did. There was a case for both of them to be sent off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Pogba had his shirt tugged earlier too and he swung a bit of an arm. They know it will only take one hefty tackle now to get him sent off.

    I like Honduras' attitude.

It's the World Cup, not a popularity contest.

Poor in what sense? A sending off would have been OTT. Palacios' stamps were worse. Ref got it right IMO

Are those horns the Brazilian equivalent of vuvuzelas?

Honduras more interest in hacking then playing football.

    Hope France whip them.

Over the last half hour? He's been a hatchet man his whole career.

I mean the rolling around on the deck, not the rash challenges. The rolling around is worse I think.

French strickers are too deep. Then need to stretch the honduran defence. Very easy to defend the french attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

It wasn't a poor decision. Unfair to ask for Pogba to be sent off, he gets challenged poorly, bumped into on the ground and a few stamps to go along with that. He reacted childishly but did zero damage, people need to get a grip.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Ranchu

If the ref had seen it clearly Palacios would have gone and Pogba would have been booked.

    Sensible refereeing for me also.

In fairness, it can never get shorter!

Palacios should have been off for his tackle and his dive.

Can a referee give a player two yellow cards at once? Presumably not because you cant warn someone not to do something and then punish them straight away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

France seem to have lost their impetus since the Pogba Palacions incident

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

l'd love a goal late in this half to spice this match up even more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,038 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

(I still think it was ridiculous that Beckham got sent off against Argentina)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Honduras play football like they live their lives on the streets.

As for Jonathan Pearce whats his beef with Sakho? Always a little negative slant "under pressure" when he dealt with the high ball perfectly. Martin Keown rather more knowledgeable.

    Big challenge from Sakho.

Kinda surprised Honduras have held them off for so long. I think it's just a matter of time before France score though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

French flow has been disrupted a bit.

Also, what's up with South and Central American keepers being good shot stoppers but awful in the air/at handling? They do know that they're allowed to catch the ball right?

No one likes us, we don't care!
    We're Honduras, super Honduras
    We're Honduras from, eh, Honduras!

Poor in the sense that Palacios clearly stamped on an opponent and wasn't sent off.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

    Remy should be starting.

Great calm stuff from Sakho, better than Varane so far.

Frace missing a player like Nasri to link up mid to attack better.

He clearly stamped on your HD TV with super slow motion from 4 angles. You're forgetting that.

    Me too

It reminds me of a guy I used to play indoor with. Every time he saw someone doing a stepover or some poor cruyff turn he just plough through them like a train.
