Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That was a weird one, it didnt look like it had completely crossed from the replays but from goal line technology it had just about. Not saying it hadnt gone in, just that its only a computer graphic we see.

I think it would be interesting to compare a real life camera in the crossbar to the graphic in incidents like that.

I don't know what you saw but in the 2nd incident graphic the ball had clearly crossed the line.

Wisely Pogba is off for Sissoko

It was blatantly a goal according to the technology. We all knew it wasn't in when it hit the post ffs!

I bet Sepp Blatter has an override button on that goal line technology...

Be better off if they used the technology that was used in the EPL last season. The ball crosses the line and the ref get a signal to his watch. Simples. Too much delay with this other shite.

    Isn't that what happened tonight?

Not saying your wrong, but it was hardly clearly. Only in the computer graphic.

It was gas hearing the RTE commentator blame the goal line tech for the delay in play.

Presumably he'll blame it if there's a streaker on the pitch as well.

In fairness, the replay from inside the goal looked like it didn't cross the line.

Honduras are a bunch of tykes, street urchins. They won't pick a pocket or two though - just mug you with a lead pipe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

I don't mind physicality but Honduras are just a team of thugs. They came out to try and rough France up, now that the game is over they don't give a ****e so they're just hitting late and off the ball.

It looks to me like the tech is calibrated to the front of the white line and not the back.
Because in the real camera view it looks like 3/4 of the ball passed the line. But all the ball needs to cross.

Reminds me of the GAA problem when the calibration was done with a football not a sliotar.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had calibrated it incorrectly :pac:
    (not saying it is)

How do you know it isn't faulty?

Its tested countless times. They didnt just introduce this technology today.

No matter how badly people think FIFA is ran, the GLT has been a brilliant introduction and its been seamless too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

It should be shown because it shows its not Benzemas goal, then the 2nd one shows its an og. They've been showing replays of everything that's near the line in all matches.

Ya forgot the check everything. They really went cringe over it

In fairness, the replay from inside the goal looked like it didn't cross the line.

Yeah I haven't seen any replays which show that the ball was 100% over the line. I assume the technology is accurate.

People complain about not having goal line tech for years.

We get it and people doubt it and complain about the goal line tech.

It worked very well and the ref got the signal straight away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Still debating the goal on 5live.

Mainly because the first graphic said no goal, then as it traveled the width of the goal, and the keeper scooped it, it said goal.

Also because the ref announced goal almost immediately.

This is how the Pogba vs Palacios duel went down in Jonathan Pearce's head.

It is amazing. For years people wanted goal line technology for such goals like the second French one. Now we have it we get people saying it doesn't work.

Benzema's clearly wasn't in, it hit the post and then bounced in front of the goal line afterwards.

How are u not understanding what im saying? I never said it wasnt a goal, just that the replays didnt appear to show it completely over the line.

My point is all your seeing is a computer graphic, a comparison with a live camera would be an interesting test for it.

This just proves you can't please everyone, for so long people have complained about no GLT now people are saying it's probably faulty when they disagree with it's decision, looked over to me.
