Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This BBC commentating is painfully bad again.

Jesus Christ Jonathan, could you not tell by the reaction it wasn't a goal. He's having a shocker tonight, P45 incoming...

How are u not understanding what im saying? I never said it wasnt a goal, just that the replays didnt appear to show it completely over the line.

My point is all your seeing is a computer graphic, a comparison with a live camera would be an interesting test for it.

It was over the line on my TV.

The system that we were all crying out for represents the real world as a computer graphic. Now you're saying it's not enough and you want a 'live camera'.

    Seriously where does it stop?

Also in one 'live' replay I saw the ball crossed the line.

I imagine the fail rate from human decisions on goals by refs is higher :P yes there can be faults but on this occasion it looked like the right call

Poor Jonathan has lost it completely.

It is amazing. For years people wanted goal line technology for such goals like the second French one. Now we have it we get people saying it doesn't work.

I havent read anyone saying it doesnt work.

Give Pearce a break, for all we know GLT might have said that was in.

I believe the technology, it must be a goal. But sometimes its hard to disbelieve your eyes and mine told me it wasn't all the way over.

Johnathan Pearce is woeful. He did make a point earlier that controversial moments aren't getting many replays which I agree with.

Why bother with anything in that case?

Benzema's clearly wasn't in, it hit the post and then bounced in front of the goal line afterwards.
    That's what I said

If the keeper had caught the ball after it rolled across the line the graphic still would have come up showing it didn't go in just after it hit the post.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

I reckon GLT is fake and it's just Howard Webb at home texting in if it crosses the line or not!

Jonathan Pearce or Peter Collins :(

    Might just mute the telly

I don't think anyone is disputing that the graphic shows its in. Whats in dispute is whether the graphic is right or not

That's a good point. Directors need to take time and show the definitive angles. Not all the fcking angles. Those lead to errors of depth and parallax.

Pearce having a shocker tonight. First, getting his knickers in a twist over GLT. Now, calling a goal that wasn't.

And they're only the areas where he's been objectively wrong. :p

    Wakey wakey Sakho.

First error of the evening I think and he did enough to make the shot difficult.

I'd say Martin Keown just wants to takeover and finish the game off before Pearcey has another ****er.

With the panel BBC (Mister Savage excluded) have would they not be able to get a better commentator in.

Were everyone is looking is as the ball hit's the ground and they are right all of the ball isn't over the line.

However just before that mid air as the keeper is scooping it back it is clearly over the line

I know. But we differ in that I don't think that replay needed to be shown.

I added more to my other post but to be fair its probably buried by now.

Forget that the keeper spilled the ball in afterwards. If he'd caught it and not dropped it in , the replay would have come up showing it didn't go in, just like it has for a few other shots so far in the WC when the ball goes near the line. The fact that a couple of seconds later the ball went in is irrelevant. Its two separate incidents to the tech.

And it had the bonus of making it clear to everyone that it was an og and not benzemas goal.

Okay, I'm convinced the Hondurans are trying to get the match called off by being DQ'ed, WWE style.
