Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The refs have been quite lenient in this tournament. Good to see some physical stuff.

Jim Beglin talking nonsense as usual. Di Maria has played in a three man midfield a lot.

Very impressed by Bosnia's response to the own goal.

Haven't let the heads drop at all.

Messi could have played Aguero in there

I really think that the pressure to perform for his country is forcing Messi to try and take all the Bosnians on by himself, which is why he's been pretty anonymous so far.

Bosnia's defense is quite good ! Theyre playing really well. I'd say they have a goal in them.

Bosnia have reacted well since the goal.

This particular referee is doing well so far. He's letting the game flow, allowing a bit of physicality. Nothing worse than a referee blowing it up every five minutes.

Head down, charge into a load of players and lose the ball is Messi's thing tonight it seems.

Messi is trying risky things and they aren't coming off but all it takes is one of those through balls or dribbles to work. At some points in this game he'll be the difference maker.

    Brazil fans be trolling

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Messi already given the ball away more than I've ever seen before.

Its a pity we probably won't see a game between Honduras and Bosnia&H in this tournament. would be an interesting clash of physicality!

    It's finally happened....
Messi has turned into Kevin Kilbane

The shape of the Argentinians doesn't look good to me. The back 3 with Mascherano in front seems unnecessary. Maxi Rodriguez is not a great choice in cm either. If I was in charge I'd go:

    Romero

    Zabaleta--Fernandez--Garay--Rojo

    Mascherano--Gago

    ---Di Maria----Messi
    Lavezzi

    Aguero

    Bosnia the better team now.

    Kevin Messi?

    Bosnia the better team now.

Yeah, Arg seem rattled, some rash tackles in their third. Giving away a few free kicks which they aren't handling too well

  • Registered Users Posts: 149 ✭✭Biddy_61

    Bosnia better than Ireland!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Makes that own goal even worse, seeing as Bosnia are playing pretty good so far.

Bosnia have to get through now at some point.

Yeah they need someone like Gago on. Jesus if only Riquelme was a few years younger.

    k'mon you Bosnia...K'mon you Bosnia!

I remember back in the 1990's a group of Bosnian's visited my home town and played our local team in a game of football.
One of those town twinning tingys.

    I miss the 1990's.

Argentina are missing a deep-lying playmaker like Gago (or if they had brought him Ever Banega).

Need to bring Gago on in the 2nd half.

If someone does my Ironing, I'll give them a packet of Doritos.

Stupid decision to change the system. Leaving Banega out of the squad was silly. He has been poor at club level but for Argentina he's been good. Also he's the only viable alternative to Gago.

    Expected more from Argentina tbh

    Dzeko should have squared that.

    Argentina very laboured in possession.

    Mathematics is not his thing.

Argentina are playing without a central midfield except when Messi drops deep. Mascherano is almost playing centre back. Same problem as four years ago.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,048 ✭✭✭Da Shins Kelly

I think there are plenty of teams who would fancy their chances against this Argentina side.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

    Badly missing Banega alright.

As strong as a bull with a great range of passing.

    Really silly decision by Sabella.

I don't like the look of this Argentina midfield. Is Riquelme nearby?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Bosnian fans went to a training of Portugal to wind up Ronaldo :D

    Great save! Bosnia getting closer.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

They had Veron 4 years ago. They have no one now.

Bosnia been the better side. Got sucker punched big time with the early goal.

Bit of a meh game so far. Argentina very disappointing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,056 ✭✭✭Too Tough To Die

So much for this being two attacking teams going at each other.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

This Argentina setup looks all wrong.

A winger who's legs have gone playing alongside Mascherano, another winger playing attacking midfield and 2 fullbacks being forced into wingbacks. Move back to 4-3-3.
