Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    This looks like finishing 0-0.

Poor game so far, real lack of imagination from Nigeria when attacking.

I can see Iran catching them on the counter in the 2nd half

Both teams' immense quality cancelling each other out. Wouldn't be surprised to see a repeat of this fixture in the final.

Lennon: this is awful, SPL... Should be an improvement

Poor game so far.. Very dull! Hopefully will be more interesting in second half but
    it's looking like 0-0.

Jaysus Ronnie Whelan is sucking the life out of the world cup for me.... That perturbed, irritated look on his face the whole time, baulking like some biddy ringing in to liveline..... The second tier panels are strongly in need of a bit of colour, they are all very dour ..

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

Just no quality whatsoever on display.

I must admit I expected more from Nigeria.

Might get slated for it, but I think it's a shame that Ibra and other quality players have to sit at home while these second rate teams produce these terrible displays.

I'm a fairly optimistic guy but this match is turning me into a dour old man

I'm sure some other countries were saying this about Ireland in 2012

This is truly terrible. Can't believe I backed Nigeria.

Moses has to be one of the worse players at the WC. Such a sorry excuse for a professional player

The prospect of Ghana-US is the only thing keeping me awake.

Ivory Coast look like the strongest African team so far.

It hurts when you think of the passion the Irish team and the mad following army
of supporters could add to the World Cup when watching this absolute tripe of a game at the World Cup.

Moses off...Iran will nick it now.

For a soccer mad country of 180 million, surely Nigeria could produce better players to bring to a WC than having to take poor Premier League players like Shola Ameobi and Victor Moses...

Ireland were equally awful at our last tournament in case you've forgotten...

I know trust me I was there but the fans and what we added to the tournament cannot be questioned.

I grew up watching Egyptian 2nd tier and Irish 2nd tier football. This is worse than both.

I went through puberty watching Ireland-Egypt in Italia 90

This is better than that. Slightly.

    A chance at least.

You're all spoilt from how good all the other games have been up to now. Bound to be a few clunkers. 1990 was awful including a few of our own like Ireland 0 Egypt 0

Pity it fell to the man who has scored the grand total of 5 goals in the last 3 years for Newcastle!

When Mikel is the classiest player on the pitch by a garden mile, you know things are bad.

He has a good record against sides from war zones though.
